DSI Comedy Theater Promises 50% of the Proceeds from This Weekend to Japan

Along with the rest of the world, DSI Comedy Theater has been overwhelmed by the footage from Japan each day. Like many people, the theater wants to help however it can. This weekend, beginning Thursday night, DSI is promising 50% of the proceeds of tickets bought at the door will be donated to a fund or funds aiding the recovery in Japan. The theatre is actively researching reputable aid organizations and will give audiences a chance to vote on where funds will be sent.

DSI Comedy Theater is located at 200 N. Greensboro St, in the Carr Mill Mall between Elmo's and Southern Rail. More information about the theatre is at www.DSIcomedy.com.

Shows run Thursday-Saturday night and include two performances of the family friendly Improv MARCH MADNESS, a performance of the wildly popular PT Scarborough is a Movie, stand-up comedy, the twitter-based improv show Retweeted, and the weekly performance of DSI's premiere improv team Mr. Diplomat. If the shows sell out, DSI would be able to send at least $2500 in donations to the relief effort. The theatre will also take extra donations at the door.

"As I continue to read news stories, first-hand accounts and watch footage from across the world I've become overwhelmed. I honestly cannot even start to think of where to send our support, but I know DSI Comedy Theater needs to help. Because that is what we do," said DSI Comedy Theater Executive Producer Zach Ward. "DSI continues to be singularly focused on using improv and comedy to increase the quality of life for our performers on stage, students in classes and our fans in the audience. Our fundraising will support our community, near and far. Because that is what we do."
