Portland Ovations Announces De Temps Antan to Replace Disbanded Gadelle

By: Feb. 23, 2011

Portland Ovations has recently learned that the French-Acadian ensemble Gadelle has disbanded and as such is cancelling all of their upcoming concerts, including Portland Ovations' slated for May 7th at at 8:00 p.m. at USM's Hannaford Hall in Portland. Fortunately, Portland Ovations has been able to secure another exciting Quebecois ensemble, De Temps Antan, to perform that evening.

Outstanding tickets for Gadelle are automatically being transferred to the De Temps Antan concert, taking place at the same time and location as previously scheduled Gadelle concert. Current ticket holders that do not wish to see De Temps Antan have the option of exchanging their tickets for another event in Portland Ovations' 2010-11 season (with the exception of the April 2nd presentation of David Sedaris) or receiving a refund for the full ticket amount. Ticket holders who wish to exchange or refund their tickets are asked to contact PortTix at 207 842-0800. For a complete listing of upcoming Portland Ovations' presentations, visit www.portlandovations.org.

De Temps Antan is a high-energy trio featuring three of Quebec's most talented musicians coming out of the city's vibrant music scene. Since 2003, Éric Beaudry, André Brunet and Pierre-Luc Dupuis have been exploring and performing time-honored melodies from the stomping grounds of Quebec's musical past. Using fiddle, accordion, harmonica, guitar, bouzouki and a number of other instruments, these three virtuosos blend boundless energy with the unmistakable joie de vivre found only in traditional Quebec music. All three members previously performed with the celebrated ensemble La Bottine Souriante (Beaufry remains a member of La Bottine). Brunet was featured in the Opening Ceremony of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver British Columbia. Showing the talent runs deep, Brunet's brother Réjean is a member of another dynamic Quebecois ensemble, Le Vent du Nord.

Additional tickets to see De Temps Antan are available for purchase. Ticket prices are $31 for Portland Ovations' Members and $34 for the general public. A limited number of $10 student tickets are available to full-time college or grade school students. For tickets, call PortTix at 207-842-0800 or visit the box office window at Merrill Auditorium. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.portlandovations.org. If supplies last, tickets can also be purchased at the door, the night of the concert, in the lobby of Hannaford Hall.
