Throughline Theatre to Close Season with THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION, 10/25-11/2

By:

Throughline Theatre Company close fourth season with Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention, October 25, 2013 at the Grey Box Theatre in Lawrenceville. 2013 Season highlights plays focused on "Changing the World."

Through the most turbulent events of the first half of the 20th Century, David Sarnoff rises to prominence as the world's first media mogul, while Philo Farnsworth languishes in obscurity. One a master of industry, the other a genius of invention, these two intellectual giants find themselves on a collision course with one another and with history as they race to create Television

An intensely personal drama and a decade spanning epic, The Farnsworth Invention is rife with Aaron Sorkin's signature wit and mile-a-minute banter as it depicts the history behind the invention that changed the world. Throughline Theatre brings the sweeping scope of this international hit to the intimate experience of a black box stage.

The Farnsworth Invention is the final production in Throughline Theatre's fourth season, their second season at The Grey Box Theatre in Lawrenceville, following a wildly successful 2012 season. Pittsburgh City Paper called Throughline's 2012 production of August: Osage County "spellbinding" and praised the "brilliance" of their recent Pittsburgh Premier of Saving the World.

Throughline Theatre Company's four-show season focuses on the relationship between past, present, and future by presenting plays from varied time periods and arranging them to highlight their thematic and stylistic similarities.

The Farnsworth Invention opens Friday, October 25, at 8pm and runs until Saturday, November 2. The opening night performance will be followed by a reception where food and drinks will be provided and audience members can meet the cast. Thursday and Friday performances start at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm. Tickets are $15 or $12 for students and seniors. Tickets for the Opening Night Reception are an additional $10. Tickets are available at the door or in advance online at throughlinge.showclix.com.
