Open Stage of Harrisburg Studio/School Offers TWEEN SCENE Summer Workshops, Starts 6/28
Open Stage of Harrisburg Studio/School is offering a flexible three-week program, "Tween" Scene for young people ages 8-12 June 28 through July 16 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM Mondays through Fridays at Open Stage, located in the street level of the Walnut Street Parking Garage in downtown Harrisburg. Students may choose to participate in one, two, or all three of the week-long classes.
Week 1, "Theatre Games," will focus on beginning and more advanced improvisational games for kids. Students will develop self-confidence, exercise their imaginations, and learn to work collaboratively to create an original performance. Week 2, "Creating Characters," will give students the opportunity to research and create original characterizations, and to apply them to improvised and scripted scenes. Both of these classes will be taught by experienced Open Stage actor/instructor Robert Campbell. Week 3, "Music Theatre Singing and Staging" will involves students in the rehearsal and performance of small and large group songs from age-appropriate musicals. Elizabeth Jacobs is instructor for this class.
Participation in Open Stage kids' classes provides quality training for the stage, and make students eligible to audition for roles in OSHKids, the theatre's kids' performing company, and its annual productions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK.

Open Stage, a not-for-profit professional regional theatre, receives state arts funding support from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency administering an annual state appropriation for grants to the arts and funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
