BUBBA'S REVENGE Runs 8/18-30 at Mountain Playhouse

By:

For country music lovers who like to laugh, Bubba's Revenge promises all you could ask for an afternoon matinee or night out at the theater. The final sequel to the smash hit The Honky Tonk Angels runs August 18-30 at the Mountain Playhouse in Jennerstown. Bubba's Revenge unfolds when a famous country singer, Darlene Purvis, dies in an on-stage accident with a disco ball. Her friends and former co-singers hold a spooky country-western style Halloween night séance - and of course a foot-stompin' gospel jubilee - in the bar where Darlene got her start. Laughs follow laughs when it turns out Darlene's ghost does in fact haunt the bar. What could be wrong with musical comedy which includes the song "You're the Reason Our Kids Are Ugly?"

The show is written by Ted Swindley who also wrote Always . . . Patsy Cline and Honky Tonk Angels. Directed by Chan Harris the cast is headed by Mary Ehlinger (Angela) who starred in Honky Tonk Angels when it was first presented during the Mountain Playhouse 2004 season. Other cast members who have been members of this season's resident summer stock company include Frederic Heringes (Bubba) Matthew Steffens (Cornell) Juliet Brooks (Darlene) Eric Deiboldt (Jimmy Timmy) and Ashley Puckett Gonzales (Sue Ellen).
