WAISTWATCHERS: THE MUSICAL Begins 12/23 at Herberger Theater Center

By: Nov. 24, 2015
The Battle of the Bulge -- struggle to be that perfect weight - a topic women around the world know only too well - comes to toe-tapping, hysterical life in Alan Jacobson's WaistWatchers: The Musical! from Dec. 23 to Jan. 24, 2016 at the Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe.

The 90-minute musical, set in Cook's Women's Gym, follows the women as they go through the ups and downs of survival in a weight-and-beauty obsessed world.

WaistWatchers: The Musical takes a light-hearted look at four women singing about assorted body issues from dieting, exercise and plastic surgery to sex after 40 and the relentless search for a positive self image through 25 popular songs with parody lyrics.

"Be prepared to laugh off a few pounds!" wrote BroadwayWorld.com about Jacobson's adaptation of songs like "Botox Queen" to the tune of ABBA's Dancing Queen; "I Hope I Lose It" to the tune of I Hope I Get It from a Chorus Line; and "Viagra" to the tune of Maria from West Side Story.

Performances are 7 p.m. Wednesdays, 2 and 7 p.m. Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays and 2 and 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Tickets are $43-$53 (other fees may apply) and are available by visiting www.PlayHouseInfo.com or at the Herberger Theater Box Office at (602) 252-8497.
