Theater Works invites the public to come to the party and stay for the show A Christmas Carol. Tonight, December 2, 2011 The City of Peoria hosts their annual Peoria's Old Town Holiday Festival beginning at 5 p.m. This family friendly event will have games and fun for the whole family. Then at 8 p.m. tonight Theater Works proudly debuts A Christmas Carol To celebrate the holiday season. So bundle up, put your walking shoes on and enjoy the festivities before the much anticipated production at Theater Works. Dickens brilliant tale of Ebanezer's terrifying night of revelation comes to our stage in a joyous new production.

Performing December 2nd - 18th on the Gyder Stage, Theater Works is proud to continue the tradition of bringing you a family favorite Christmas tale filled with treasured songs of the holiday season. Theater Works production is a family friendly play with a brighter tone and humor. Richard Powers Hardt is the author of Theater Works new adaptation of A Christmas Carol with Robyn Allen is directing. The best thing about A Christmas Carol is that it covers a wide range of human emotion and experience, humor, sadness, joy, camaraderie, the love of family and at the same time is just a bit chilling. "This was an exciting collaborative project that written with an eye toward bringing to the forefront both the humor and pathos inherent in Dicken's classic tale," said Richard. With Peoria's Old Town Festival and fun family activities tonight there will be street closures but FREE parking will still be available. Parking is available at Peoria Avenue and 84th Avenue, Washington Street and 84th Avenue, Jefferson and 84th Avenue and Madison and 84th Avenue. Street closures include 84th Avenue just north of Washington, Washington Street from 84th Avenue to 83rd Avenue, 83rd Avenue from Washington to Madison and Jefferson from 84th Avenue to 83rd Avenue.

Saving Santa Puppet Show is returning for its second year. The puppet show performs on Saturdays, December 3 - 24 at 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. This fun holiday adventure is full of comic hijinx involving quirky elves, a cookie loving Santa, a Dad who loves Christmas, and other adorable characters. An amusing family show that tries to prove the age old question, "Is Santa really real?" Tickets are only $6 / person and SAVING SANTA will run until December 24th.

Tickets are now on sale both online at www.theaterworks.org and at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. The Box Office is open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily and may be reached at 623-815-7930. A CHRISTMAS CAROL runs December 2nd - December 18th with performances Thursday - Saturday 7:30 p.m. and Sundays 2 p.m. There is also a special weekday matinee on Wednesday, December 14th at 2 p.m. Tickets are only $35 / adult and $25 / student. SAVING SANTA runs December 3rd - December 24th, with performances on Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Tickets are only $6.00 for adults and children (prices include service and processing fees).
