The Nash/Jazz In AZ Names Steve Maun Managing Director ImageBryan Albue, Board President of Jazz in Arizona, Inc. has announced the appointment of Steve Maun to the position of Managing Director of Jazz in Arizona, which owns and operates The Nash jazz education and performance center in downtown Phoenix.

Maun brings over thirty years of proven business development and management skills from his careers in the legal and business fields. For the last sixteen years, Maun served as President for RED Development, the major real estate development company based in Phoenix, Dallas and Overland Park, where he led the company's growth from 25 employees to over 200 in 5 years, with short and long-term strategic plans for more than 25 major real estate properties in 11 states. Prior to his work at RED, Maun practiced law for 14 years in Omaha, NE specializing in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and intellectual property.

Maun has served on the Boards of ASU Gammage and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, as Board President for Big Brothers and Sisters of the Midlands and is currently a member of the NU College of Law Advisory Board and the Nebraska State Bar Association.

"Our organization was searching for leadership that would continue to grow the impact and presence of The Nash in the community, while assuring the long-term health of our vibrant venue," explained Bryan Albue. "Throughout the three-month process, we considered many highly-qualified candidates. It became apparent that Steve possessed the impressive and unique set of skills that would best serve the organization's efforts to fulfill its mission and achieve its goals. Steve brings a tremendous wealth of experience that will truly elevate the visibility and impact The Nash and jazz has in the community. We are privileged to have Steve join us as Managing Director."

"Running a non-profit has many of the same opportunities and challenges as a major company - from financing and operations to marketing, generating revenues and creating strong partnerships," Maun stated. "At this stage of my life, I realized that I want to bring my career experience and knowledge to make an impact on our community in a new way. And as a long-time passionate jazz fan of over 30 years, this feels like a natural evolution. The Nash has established itself locally and nationally as an acclaimed venue for jazz performance and education, and I'm very excited to contribute to expanding its impact on the lives in our community."

The Nash, owned and operated by Jazz in Arizona Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, is an education and performance venue named in honor of world-renowned drummer and Phoenix native, Lewis Nash. He is described in The Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz as "the most talented drummer of his generation" and has been designated in Modern Drummer as "The Most Valuable Player in Jazz.""

The Nash has grown to present more than 300 events annually including jazz performances, jam sessions and educational programs - featuring students, top local and regional musicians, national and internationally acclaimed jazz artists and jazz royalty. For 5 years running, DownBeat has included The Nash in its prestigious "List of Great Jazz Venues" in the world.
