PFAA's DIXIE SWIM CLUB Holds Auditions, 8/2-3

By:

The Dixie Swim Club will hold auditions in August.

Performance Dates: Sept 16,17,18,23,24,25 7:30 PM and Sept 19,25 2:00 PM.
Director: Linda Miller (445-1578) or lmr@cableone.net

NO ONE IN THE CAST APPEARS ON STAGE IN A SWIMSUIT. For method actors-what you wear offstage is up to you. This is a new play about five Southern women whose friendships began many years ago on their college swim team. Every August free from husbands, kids and jobs the 5 women meet at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer banks to catch up, laugh, and re-charge their friendship. The play focuses on 4 of those weekends and spans a period of 33 years. The time frames/age references will be adjusted depending on the average age of those who are cast. This play has caught on around the nation and is playing in more than 45 theatres this spring alone.

Auditions: Monday 8/2/2010 and Tuesday 8/3/2010 7:00 PM PFAA Theatre. Please come prepared to read scenes from the script with the possibility of some fun, easy improv. If you have any questions about the show/its characters or are not available on the above audition dates please contact me (contact information above).

Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be scheduled 7:00 PM week nights beginning 8/4 through the opening of the show. If you have conflicts with the schedule, let me know during auditions.

Backstage/Tech: If you are interested in helping backstage or with tech, please contact me.

Characters: I will be looking for 5 women between the ages of mid/late 40's to late 50's.
Sheree Hollinger-perennial team captain, energetic health nut prone to organizing everything and every one around her.
Dinah Grayson-cynic of the group, career driven lawyer who excels at everything except romance. Seldom without a martini or dry humor repartee.
Lexie Richards-pampered Southern belle determined to hold onto her looks and youth as long as possible. She enjoys being married-over and over and over again.
Jeri Neal McFeeley- ditzy ray of sunshine and former nun who is pregnant early in the show (it'll all make sense eventually). Makes life choices that surprise her friends.
Vernadette Simms- Shortly after college she married Burl and became mother to Eddie Mack and Zandra. Vernadette's life could provide lyrics to a hit country song.
