Kids In Focus Special Event Announced At FIAT LUX Gallery, Today

The newest gallery in the heart of downtown Scottsdale, FIAT LUX will host a special event to raise funds for Kids In Focus, a non-profit organization that uses photography to impact the lives of Phoenix's most at-risk kids.

The adults-only special event, "Noche para los Niños" will be a festive celebration of food, drink and live entertainment and will feature an exhibition of the enthralling photographs taken by children from Kids In Focus programs.

Each year, Kids In Focus pairs youth facing adversities including homelessness, poverty, neglect and abuse with Phoenix's top photographers who inspire the kids to see the world in a new light. These relationships foster self-esteem, creativity and trust, with the resulting photographs becoming an inspirational testament to the kids' resiliency and the power of hope.

"Noche para los Niños," will be held on November 1 from 6 - 9 pm, at Fiat Lux, to raise funds for the non-profit organization. FIAT LUX is Scottsdale's newest gallery - a cross between an art gallery and a pop up show, which has been recognized for exhibiting boundary pushing art, in a variety of mediums.

FIAT LUX will be transformed into a Mexican Dia de los Muertos party with food, drink, live music and interactive performers creating a world of mystery and fun. Guests can stroll the gallery rooms to view the stunning images on exhibit, and then enjoy a beautiful fall night on the garden terrace, listening to live music by various featured musicians while enjoying interactive performers such as a tarot card reader, mentalist and diverse performance artists.

Prints on display will be available for purchase and guests may participate in a "wine pull," with all proceeds supporting Kids In Focus. Guests are encouraged to dress in black and bright colors and if feeling festive, paint their faces in the Dia de los Muertos skull tradition. Delicious food stations from prominent valley restaurants including The Parlor, Postino and Nibblers Catering will be offered along with festive margaritas, beer and wine provided by Pour Masters.

Prints on display will be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting Kids In Focus. Tickets are $75 and available at www.kidsinfocus.org/events. This is an adults only event.

Through ongoing mentoring programs, the non-profit organization Kids In Focus inspires hope and fosters positive outcomes in at-risk children starting at age 10. Through the restorative power of photography and with the guidance of dedicated mentors, the kids are inspired to open their eyes to their own potential as they build the resilience they need to overcome the challenges they face. Not only are the kids taught creative problem solving, they learn to "see", to notice and to explore with curiosity.

The kids' inspiring images are exhibited at venues such at the Arizona Science Center, Children's Museum of Phoenix, Sky Harbor Airport, Arizona State Capitol, and various restaurants and coffee shops. The children see their work on display and are recognized and appreciated by others, igniting a feeling of pride and accomplishment.

Since 2012, the organization has transformed the lives of several hundred kids in need, equipping them with essential life skills to make the shift from surviving to thriving. Building self-confidence, resilience and healthy relationships, Kids In Focus offers four types of youth programs: An after school program, a 3-day camp in Northern Arizona, Grads In Focus, to continue mentoring relationship after completion of the program, and Kids In Focus Global, in which local kids are paired with kids from around the world to share images and ideas online.

A transformative new art experience has landed in downtown Scottsdale. A cross between an art gallery and a pop¬up show, FIAT LUX hosts three themed shows on exhibit for several weeks. From Latin, FIAT LUX directly translates to 'let there be light' - a gallery designed to illuminate boundary-pushing art in a variety of mediums. FIAT LUX has partnered with noted artists and undiscovered names to curate an ever-changing art space that is always engaging, enigmatic and stimulates the heart and the mind.

Upcoming exhibits include "Passages," October 6 -19, featuring the works of photographer Ken Ross, the son of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, "Kids In Focus," November 1 - December 6 featuring images created by the youth of the non-profit mentoring program, and artist Brian Boner, February 7 - March 14, 2019, whose multi-layered images are a fascinating combination of figurative and representational painting, paired with text to create commentary on today's high-tech world.
