Downtown Phoenix joins more than 196 global Jazz Day celebrations designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to celebrate jazz and the role it plays in uniting people around the world. April 26th kicks off this year's Int'l Jazz Day Weekend at the AZ State Capitol.

Internationally known Drummer Fred Boswell Jr. Headlines this year's AZ Int'l jazz Day Concert. Bowell's celebrity precedes him as a well known drummer, who most recently he won Arizona's Guitar Center's Drum Off Contest. Special Guest Billboard Artist Neamen Lyles/ I thought that for sure I had heard most every great saxophonist, until I heard Neaman

Lyles. Neamen has also been privileged to share concert billing with another well known smooth jazz sax player, superstar Dave Koz.

• Nayo Jones - Mentored by her father Doc Jones, jazz vocalist Nayo is a rising star that has opened for jazz greats such as George Benson, Chris Botti, Otis and The Temptations, The Whispers and Kermit Ruffins.

• Mario Abney- Chicago born and raised Jazz Trumpeter, Mario Abney who resides in New Orleans fuses traditional and extended trumpet techniques in a most innovative style of his own. His strikingly personal instrumental vision endows the music with an infinite array of tonal color.

• William "Doc" Jones - Jazz Saxophonist, Keyboard artist, Founder of of NextStudent Academy and Jazz Day AZ Foundation, has performed with Aretha Franklin and The Temptations amongst others.

This Is The Sixth Annual Jazz Day Az Which Has Been Held Across The State In Varied Venues Such As City Scape, West Gate, Chandler Center Of Arts And Others

A portion of the Proceeds will go to support NextStudent Academy, a local 501(c)(3) organization that works with local schools to make jazz music education and instruments available and accessible to students from kindergarten through college.
