LEGALLY BLONDE Comes To Manila, Runs Through July 18
Elle Woods has arrived in Manila! Atlantis Productions' staging of the Broadway musical LEGALLY BLONDE opened on June 25th starring Philippine pop singer and recording artist Nikki Gil in the title role.
Nikki Gil garnered international attention when she sand the Asian version of "Breaking Free" on the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 1 album and "Gotta Go My Own Way" in HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 which climbed the charts and boosted HSM status to double platinum in Asia. Disney Records once again commissioned her to do the pop version of IT'S A SMALL WORLD which remains, to this day, a regular theme park soundtrack in Hong Kong Disneyland. She has also appeared in Atlantis Productions' SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL as The Cat in the Hat.
She is joined by a cast of Philippine and interNational Theatre veterans including Nyoy Volante (Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show, Dreamgirls) as Emmet Forrest, Guji Lorenzana (West Side Story) as Warner Huntington III, Jinky Llamanzares as Paulette Bonafonte( The Acid Queen in the Canadian Premiere of The Who's TOMMY directed by Des McAnuff, MISS SAIGON), Jett Pangan at Professor Callahan (Spring Awakening, Tick,Tick...Boom!, Baby, Disney's Beauty & the Beast, Urinetown), Cris Villonco as Vivienne Kensington(Romeo & Bernadette, Les Miserables), and Calvin Millado as Dewey/Kyle (Rent, The Rocky Horror Show, Avenue Q) and pop singer Geneva Cruz as Brooke Wyndham.
The Philippine production of LEGALLY BLONDE boasts an original Asian creative team headed by Chari Arespacochaga (Director). Choeography by Cecille Martinez, Set Design by Mio Infante, Costume Design by Twinkle Zamora, Lighting Design by Jonsy Reyes, Vocal Coaching by ManMan Angsico and Musical Direction by Beth Martin.
