Theatre Philadelphia will present the return of Philly Theatre Week featuring 100+ theatrical performances and events across the region between March 23 to April 2, 2023.
EgoPo’s 2022-2023 Harlem Renaissance Season, co-presented with Theatre in the X, will kick off its first production with an immersive world premiere theatrical staging of Langston Hughes’ The Ways of White Folks on Martin Luther King weekend.
EgoPo Classic Theater has announced the cast for their live solo-audience, walk-up window production of Samuel Beckett’s intensive 10-minute classic, Rockaby. EgoPo’s version of this famed, one-woman show welcomes a powerhouse trio of Cathy Simpson, Melanie Julian, and Karen Vicks.
EgoPo Classic Theater will carry on its tradition of producing annual themed festival seasons with the 2019-2020 Festival Season, Shepard Country, celebrating the ground-breaking works of the late, great American playwright Sam Shepard. This year, EgoPo returns to America, but through the lens of Shepard, a playwright dedicated to stripping the mask off the myth of the American family to reveal its true depth, rawness, and often painful reality.
EgoPo Classic Theater presents the Tennessee Williams one-act, And Tell Sad Stories of the Death of Queens, with performances at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival this September 5-8, 2019. EgoPo Artistic Director, Lane Savadove, directs this obscure production rarely produced on the stage, starring Rob Tucker (11th Hour's City of Angels, The Arden's The Light Princess) in his EgoPo premiere. Written in 1957 and first produced in 2004, And Tell Sad Stories... invites you to enjoy a glass of champagne as you step into the world of a queer interior decorator looking for the one thing that we all seek: love. EgoPo Classic Theater in Philadelphia announces the hiring of Associate Producer, Dane Eissler, and Managing Director, Katrina Foy, arriving in July at the start of the 2019-2020 "Shepard Country" Festival Season, joining founder and Artistic Director Lane Savadove in leading the organization. Foy succeeds Shayna Freed as Managing Director, who served in the role since 2015. Eissler is the first in the Associate Producer role, marking a time of growth and opportunity for EgoPo's future.
EgoPo Classic Theater presents CENSORED, two powerful plays, both banned by the South African government, to shine a light on two very different experiences of apartheid: Athol Fugard's "Master Harold"…and the Boys and Matsemela Manaka's Egoli, co-produced by Theatre in the X. On March 22 and 23, EgoPo will open these plays to run in rotating repertory. Master Harold previews March 21 and opens Friday, March 22. Egoli previews March 20 and opens March 23. The shows run three weeks, closing April 7. Single show tickets range $25-$35 with discounts available when both are purchased together. In this dark comedy, Reza de Wet weaves together a collection of Chekhov's iconic characters into a single musing on the end of a world. On February 1, EgoPo Classic Theater presents this great South African playwright's take on Anton Chekhov's classic, twenty years later, during the fall the privileged society. Three Sisters Two previews January 30-31 and opens Friday, February 1. The show runs three weeks, closing Feb. 17.
