Upper Darby Summer Stage Presents FRECKLEFACE STRAWBERRY THE MUSICAL The uplifting musical comedy "Freckleface Strawberry The Musical" will light up Upper Darby Summer Stage. Based on the bestselling book written by actress Julianne Moore, "Freckleface Strawberry" features toe-tapping songs and dances and explores important lessons such as embracing one's differences. Performances are July 25, 26, and 27 at 10:30 a.m. and on July 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are affordably priced at $8-$12 and members of The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center save $1. Tickets may be purchased at udpac.org or by calling the box office at 610.622.1189. The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center is located at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA., minutes from the Main Line and Center City.

The title character, Strawberry (Ali Buchanan of Upper Darby), will do anything possible to get rid of her freckles. With the help of her classmates Danny (Kenneth Bruce of Drexel Hill), Jake (Tom Geiger of Clifton Heights) and others, Strawberry learns to embrace her freckles and believes they make her unique.

The show runs one hour with no intermission and is ideal for ages four and up. The theater offers free parking and free babysitting on site for the very young. Young audience members are encouraged to come early for a fun activity and to stay after the show for a meet-and-greet with the performers.

Pat Walsh, the director of "Freckleface Strawberry The Musical" speaks about the message of the show. "Even if you are not familiar with "Freckleface Strawberry," you will be familiar with the story Strawberry tells and her desire to fit in with her classmates. It's a touching story that is great for all audiences. This show truly encompasses the Summer Stage mission of filling the world with love."

The Upper Darby Performing Arts Center and Upper Darby Summer Stage are jointly sponsored by Upper Darby Township Mayor and Council and the Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors through the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services.

About Upper Darby Summer Stage:

Upper Darby Summer Stage celebrates 43 seasons empowering young people and entertaining families. Each season the program presents six dynamic Children's Theater productions and one professional caliber Mainstage production.

Summer Stage offers programs for students beginning at age 10 in the Theater Bugs program and has participants up to age 28 in the Mainstage productions. Programs available include Theater Bugs (10-11 yrs.), Magic Makers (11-12 yrs.), Rising Stars (12-13 yrs.), Children's Theater (14-17 yrs.), and Mainstage (18-28 yrs.). Summer Stage also offers an outstanding technical theater program for students ages 14 to 18.
