Renegade Classic Theatre seeks to produce works that are foreign. Foreign in their origin or their content. We celebrate and give voice to the lesser known and voiceless.

RCT seeks to bridge the gap between the known and the unknown.

Aeschylus' Prometheus Bound follows the Titan, Prometheus who has been chained to a rock as punishment for helping out man. The mighty god, Zeus destined Prometheus to endure torture from an eagle pecking at his liver for all eternity.

Prometheus, being a fore-thinker knows how Zeus will meet his demise and his freedom can be granted by telling the secret. Zeus sends his minions to try and extract the secret from Prometheus, but the Titan claims fate had determined against such a task. This classic Greek tale focuses on Prometheus wrongly punished for his actions and Zeus' unwillingness to budge.

A Prometheus Bound: A Folk Musical riffs on Aeschylus' classic work by setting it in 1930's Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl Era. Prometheus follows suit like other folk heroes of the time such as Tom Joad, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger. The production is greatly influenced by Guthrie's life and music, Steinbeck's portrayal of America, and the Dust Bowl photographs of Dorothea Lange.

Michael Durkin returns to Renegade Classic Theatre, having previously directed and adapted, Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi, he has recently worked at BCKSEET Productions as dramaturg for Losing the Shore, Director of The Bridge Club at Society Hill Playhouse, and Assistant Director for Blasted at Luna Theater Company. The cast features Griffin Stanton-Ameisen (Prometheus) recently of Act II Playhouse's The Tempest and understudy for 39 Steps at the Walnut Street Theatre; Kate Black Regan (Io) who performed in Idiopathic Rediculopathy Constortium's The Empire Builders, Sean Bradley (Oceanus) currently appearing in As You Like It at Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre; Eric
Scotolati (Hermes) currently playing Guildenstern in Curio Theatre's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead; and Karina Croskrey (Bia) who just appeared in Ego Po Classic Theatre's Artuad Unbound.
