OACCE Launches Calls For Creative Spaces And Talent To Support The Arts In Action Initiative

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE) is excited to begin planning for its 2018 season by launching a call for artists and performers and owners of creative spaces to participate in its Arts in Action Initiative, which connects arts programming with unique neighborhood spaces. OACCE is calling for Philadelphians to get involved in two ways, by submitting locations to the Call for Creative Spaces and responding to the Call for Creative Talent. Both calls are opportunities for a new collection of cultural organizations, arts groups, individual artists, and residents to increase access to OACCE's free programming in neighborhoods across the city.

"This past year, we presented more than 50 performances in neighborhoods across the city," said Chief Cultural Officer Kelly Lee. "In an effort to present programming in even more neighborhood spaces and support more artists, we invite creative organizations and talent looking for unique neighborhood spaces to strengthen their connection with Philadelphians to submit their information and help increase access to arts and culture programming."

The Call for Creative Spaces offers the opportunity to introduce OACCE to distinct spaces throughout the city's neighborhoods that are open to the public, which can host arts and cultural activities. These programs can range from performances, to art-making workshops, to film screenings, to establishing hubs for creativity in unique community locations. OACCE's Call for Creative Talent will generate a comprehensive list of artists, performers, and arts organizations serving Philadelphia's neighborhoods. The goal is to expand our current list of artists to increase opportunities for new talent to be involved in future programs. Responses to these calls will be considered for the programming of OACCE's Arts in Action initiative for 2018 and beyond, under which OACCE produces all its performing arts series including Performances in Public Spaces, Culture on Tap, and Culture in Neighborhoods. Additionally, the submissions will be a greater resource for City departments and agencies to utilize arts and culture in their initiatives.

These opportunities are a major part of OACCE's efforts provide to provide enriching arts-infused experiences to children, youth, and adults, and support and promote the artists, programs, cultural groups and arts organizations that deliver those experiences.
