1812 Productions is partnering with Congreso de Latinos Unidos for a benefit performance of 1812's current production Buyer & Cellar, written by Jonathan Tolins and performed by Dito van Reigersberg.

On Wednesday, October 18th at 6:30, 1812 Productions will present a pay-what-you-can, Spanish-captioned performance of Buyer & Cellar benefiting the Unidos PA'PR Initiative.

The Unidos PA'PR Initiative has brought together community organizations, leaders, and elected officials to coordinate disaster relief efforts for Puerto Rico. Congreso de Latinos Unidos is a participating organization and all money raised at the October 18th performance will go directly to this initiative.

Julia Rivera, External Affairs Director for Congreso de Latinos Unidos, says, "The devastation from the recent hurricanes in Puerto Rico has inspired local community leaders, organizations, and elected officials to establish a coordinated effort through Unidos PA' PR to respond to the immediate needs of the people of Puerto Rico. Most people on the island remain without electricity or water and our community recognizes that the road to recovery is long and will require the support of many." The translation for the Spanish-captioned performance of Buyer & Cellar was created by long-time 1812 collaborator and supporter Fernando Mendez, who is also a member of Congreso's board of directors.

Tickets for the Spanish-captioned performance will be available starting at 5:30pm on Wednesday, October 18th at Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Place. Information about 1812 Productions and Buyer & Cellar can be found at www.1812productions.org or at 215-592-9560. Information about Congreso de Latinos Unidos can be found at www.congreso.net.

Their education program, 1812 Outreach, has received multiple nominations and has twice been awarded the Barrymore Award for Excellence in Theatre Education and Community Service. 1812 Productions' mission is to produce theatrical works of comedy and comedic works of theatre that explore and celebrate our sense of community, our history, and our humanity.
