On April 18, 1994, a musical opened that would change the face of Broadway for years to come. Beauty and the Beast not only took New York City by storm, but marked the birth of Disney Theatrical Productions. Since then, its 10 Broadway titles (including current hits Frozen, Aladdin and The Lion King) have been seen by over 160 million theatergoers and have been nominated for 62 Tony Awards, winning Broadway's highest honor 20 times.

Last week, Laura Osnes and all of her fairytale friends brought a holiday edition of The Broadway Princess Party back to NYC at Sony Hall! The Princesses are throwing a ball, and you're invited! After eight sold out shows, Broadway's Cinderella, Tony nominee Laura Osnes and music director Benjamin Rauhala returned to host Broadway's most beloved leading ladies at Feinstein's/54 Below. Joined by iconic Broadway princess Tony nominee Susan Egan, Broadway's original 'Belle' in Beauty and the Beast and the voice of 'Meg' in Disney's motion picture Hercules. Together with an all-star cast will sing the most beloved 'Princess' songs of stage and screen in a magical evening that is not to be missed!

Disney fans and audience members of THE LITTLE MERMAID Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday, June 6th, were treated with a wonderful surprise. Susan Egan, the original Belle from the Broadway version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, came on stage as an opening to the concert, to sing a medley of songs from the musical including 'Belle', 'Something There', and of course 'Beauty and the Beast.'

Last month, composer Georgia Stitt along with violinist Victoria Paterson and Kate Baldwin reunited at SubCulture to perform 'Alphabet City Cycle.' Originally recorded in 2009, the song cycle with lyrics by Marcy Heisler consists of five songs about women alone in New York City.

This week our spotlight is on Paul Loesel and Scott Burkell, whose original musical LMNOP received developmental productions at the University of Michigan and Goodspeed Musicals (Norma Terris Theatre). The show, produced with Third Coast Creative, will open in April 2015 at TUTS Underground in Houston, TX.
