On April 18, 1994, a musical opened that would change the face of Broadway for years to come. Beauty and the Beast not only took New York City by storm, but marked the birth of Disney Theatrical Productions. Since then, its 10 Broadway titles (including current hits Frozen, Aladdin and The Lion King) have been seen by over 160 million theatergoers and have been nominated for 62 Tony Awards, winning Broadway's highest honor 20 times.

Disney fans and audience members of THE LITTLE MERMAID Live in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Monday, June 6th, were treated with a wonderful surprise. Susan Egan, the original Belle from the Broadway version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, came on stage as an opening to the concert, to sing a medley of songs from the musical including 'Belle', 'Something There', and of course 'Beauty and the Beast.'

Last month, composer Georgia Stitt along with violinist Victoria Paterson and Kate Baldwin reunited at SubCulture to perform 'Alphabet City Cycle.' Originally recorded in 2009, the song cycle with lyrics by Marcy Heisler consists of five songs about women alone in New York City.

BroadwayWorld.com is very excited to announce that we will be returning to Joe's Pub at the Public Theater in 2014, kicking off a year-long celebration of the community and our 10th anniversary with regularly scheduled concerts, live streams and special events in a BIG way. The concert series will launch on January 20, 2014 with BROADWAYWORLD VISITS OZ, directed by Richard Jay-Alexander and with music direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell. Tickets will go on sale on October 15, 2013 at 1pm. Below, watch a VERY special 10th Anniversary look back at the site's original concert series.
