TheatreWorks Silicon Valley breaks new ground in 2017 by adding a second holiday show to its season, The Santaland Diaries at the intimate 180-seat Lohman Theatre in Los Altos Hills. Written by David Sedaris, this rollicking one-man cure for an overdose of holiday hype will have a limited three-week run. Sedaris' international career as a memoirist took off when he recounted his short tenure at Macy's as Crumpet the Elf in an essay which he read on NPR's 'Morning Edition' in 1992. Adapted by Joe Mantello, this unique yuletide hit shares the experience of an ill-equipped elf forced to confront child meltdowns, overbearing parents, and complacent Santas. Directed by Jeffrey Lo and starring Max Tachis as David/Crumpet, The Santaland Diaries will be presented December 5 - 23, 2017 (opening nights: December 7-8) at Lohman Theatre, 12345 S. The Actors Fund, the national human services organization that helps everyone in performing arts and entertainment in times of need, crisis or transition, just held its Annual Gala on Monday night, May 8, 2017. The evening celebrated Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Danny DeVito, two-time Academy Award winner Sally Field, outstanding corporate leader Jo Ann Jenkins, CEO of AARP and 21-time Tony Award-winning theatrical director and producer Harold Prince. Mr. DeVito, Ms. Field and Ms. Jenkins were awarded The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor. Mr. Prince received The Actors Fund's Lifetime Achievement Award.

On last night's LATE SHOW, actor Finn Wittrock discussed his role in the Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' THE GLASS MENAGERIE and recalled his days as a student at Julliard.

In 1945, a daring new play brought a brilliant young writer to national attention, and, in his own words, 'changed [his] life irrevocably' when it first premiered on Broadway. The play was The Glass Menagerie and the playwright was Tennessee Williams. More than seventy years later, Williams's plays continue captivate and overwhelm audiences around the world.
