Our featured composer this week is Ryan Scott Oliver. Here is his song "Halfway" sung by Morgan Karr (Spring Awakening) and Jay Armstrong Johnson (Hands on a Hardbody) at our Cutting-Edge Composers concert at the Canal Room. On April 1st, 'Miles Of Time' from the musical TRAILS was featured on New Day Northwest Seattle. Kirsten DeLohr Helland, who plays the lead role of Amy in Village Theatre's new musical TRAILS, performed, accompanied on piano by Music Director R.J. Tancioco. The two then joined host Margaret Larson to talk about the musical, which runs through April 21 at Village Theatre in Issaquah and April 26 - May 19 at Village Theatre in Everett. Happy Birthday, Stephanie D'Abruzzo! Though D'Abruzzo has spent most of her career performing as a puppeteer in children's television, she is best known for originating the roles of single schoolteacher Kate Monster and sultry chanteuse Lucy the Slut in the Broadway musical Avenue Q. D'Abruzzo earned widespread acclaim for her performance of the dual role, including a nomination for the 2004 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical, a Drama Desk nomination, the Theatre World Award, and the Outer Critics Circle Special Ensemble Award. Her other stage credits include I Love You Because (off-Broadway), If You Give A Mouse A Cookie (TheaterworksUSA), Carnival (for City Center Encores!), Kiss and Makeup (New York City Fringe Festival), and Austentatious (New York Musical Theatre Festival).

Alexis Fishman is the creator and star of the solo show Der Gelbe Stern, co-written by James Millar. Der Gelbe Stern made its debut at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival in 2011, followed by seasons at the Melbourne Cabaret Festival and a sold out season at The Reginald at the Seymour Centre in Sydney. The SOS show, 'SOS, A Journey Out of the Forgotten Borough... Staten Island...' is returning to theLaurie Beechman Theatre on Monday, October 15th at 7 p.m. Candice Guardin impersonates more than 15 characters, including her family, as she takes you through what 'growing up Ginni' was really like, all while singing with a full band. Recently Guardin headed to the streets of NYC to ask people to impersonate their family members. You won't believe what they say. Watch the video below!

Burning up the boards at the World Famous Jazz Club Birdland, Rebecca LaChance as Jane Brooks and Rod Lawrence as Jim Marcel sing 'Black Monday' from the hit show Central Avenue Breakdown opening this Thursday night at the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF). Watch the video below!

Today in 2008, [title of show] opened at the Lyceum Theatre, where it ran for 102 performances. [title of show] is a one-act musical, with music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen and a book by Hunter Bell. The show chronicles its own creation as an entry in the New York Musical Theatre Festival, and follows the struggles of the author and composer/lyricist and their two actress friends during the initial brief (three-week) creative period, along with subsequent events leading up to the show's production. Writer/stars Bowen and Bell, as well as director Michael Berresse all won Obie Awards for their work on the off-Broadway production, and Bell was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Beyond Boundaries present Christopher Wilson's LIVING WITH HENRY, musically directed by James Higgins, and directed/choreographed by Donna Marie Barratta. As an official selection of the 2012 Next Link Project, LIVING WITH HENRY will play a limited engagement at the Off-Broadway Theatre-the PTC Performance Space. Performances begin Monday, July 23rd at 8:00 pm and continue through Sunday, July 29th, 2012, at 5:00 pm. Check out the promo video for the musical below!
