Last night, Thursday October 1, Samuel French, the world's largest publisher and licensor of stage plays and musicals, in collaboration with HowlRound, presented Sing and Tell: A Benefit Concert for the Dramatists Guild Fund at Feinstein's/54 Below.
With a screenplay by Ahrens, and directed by Christopher Ashley, the new movie version of the Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty musical LUCKY STIFF is now in theaters and On Demand. This hysterical musical comedy with a romantic heart stars Tony Award-winners Jason Alexander (JEROME ROBBINS BROADWAY, FISH IN THE DARK) and Nikki M. James (THE BOOK OF MORMON, PRELUDES), along with newly elected Equity president Kate Shindle (LEGALLY BLONDE, WONDERLAND), Dennis Farina, Pamela Shaw, and Dominic Marsh.

The tribute concerts take the music of well-known music icons and create new, unique arrangements and orchestrations by twisting the style to fit the strength of the performer. The company of 'REVOLUTION IN THE ELBOW' was challenged by the company of 50 SHADES! THE MUSICAL to take on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. They completed the feat after the August 28th show, in front of an enthusiastic audience, in turn challenging their Icelandic artistic directors, Josh Sassanella and the entire company of ROCK OF AGES on Broadway. Several Tony Award-winners teamed up to bring an adaptation of the 1988 musical LUCKY STIFF to the big screen. Starring Jason Alexander, the late Dennis Farina, Dominic Marsh, Nikki M. James, Don Amendolia, Pamela Shaw and Kate Shindle, the movie will compete in the 'Feature Film' competition of this year's Montreal World Film Festival. Tony Award winner Cady Huffman and Kate Shindle are set to head the cast of Revolution in the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter, a new musical with book, music & lyrics by Ívar Pall Jonsson, based on a story by Ívar and Gunnlaugur Jonsson. Performances will begin July 28th, with the official Opening Night on Wednesday, August 13th at the Minetta Lane Theatre, 18 Minetta Lane (just a few steps from Sixth Ave., one block south of W. 3rd St.)
