Just yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama called upon producer Harvey Weinstein to create 'Broadway at the White House,' an all day symposium on careers in the theater created especially for deserving high school students. The day was hosted by Matthew Morrison, currently starring in Broadway's Finding Neverland and Tony-winner Kristin Chenoweth and included such Broadway stars as Andrew Lloyd Webber, Whoopi Goldberg, Gloria Estefan, Christian Borle, Cicely Tyson, Laura Michelle Kelly and performances by the casts of Finding Neverland, Fun Home, An American in Paris, On Your Feet!, School of Rockand Something Rotten. The new Broadway musical An American in Paris opened on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). Directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, it is inspired by the Academy-Award winning film. An American In Paris brings this classic tale to Broadway for the first time with music and lyrics by George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin and a book by Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas.
