Author Barbara Kacer's 2006 novel 'Back Then' (published by AuthorHouse) is an insightful and well-researched look at wartime America. As she begins a new marketing push, she intends to present readers with a narrative that will reflect on the hardships during World War II. As the young men went off to war, the women took over their jobs. They worked in defense plants and even began to drive streetcars.
The Classical Recording Foundation (CRF) is pleased to announce the 2013 winners of its twelfth annual Classical Recording Foundation Awards. Four prizes will be presented at the Foundation's Annual Awards Concert and Benefit at 7:30pm on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall. The event will feature CRF Young Artist of the Year pianist Roman Rabinovich performing selections from his CD Ballets Russes (Orchid; March 2013), pianist Laura Leon performing works by CRF Composer of the Year Peter Schickele's album The Music of Peter Schickele, Samuel Sanders Collaborative Artists Award winners Hsin-Yun Huang and Sarah Rothenberg in selections from their recording Viola Viola (Bridge; November 2012); andClassical Recording Foundation Award winner, cellist Sophie Shao, performing selections from her upcoming double-CD set of J.S. Bach's Cello Suites. The proceeds from the 2013 Classical Recording Foundation Award Ceremony and Benefit will go toward the 2014 Awards.

The Delaware Theatre has announced the inaugural performance of the Play A Part series of fundraisers: A.R. Gurney's LOVE LETTERS, starring Governor and Mrs. Jack Markell. This event, co-chaired by Tatiana and Gerret Copeland and Ellen and Michael Kullman, will raise funds to support the theatre's artistic, education and community outreach programming. Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for William Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines. Embraced by audiences as one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies, The Merry Wives of Windsor is an energetic romp with the loveable rouge Sir John Falstaff, performed by Scott Jaeck, as he charms and conspires against the townspeople of Windsor, only to be outsmarted by Mistress Page and Mistress Ford, performed by Kelli Fox and Heidi Kettenring. Chicago Shakespeare's production will transport audiences to post-war England in the late 1940s with a soundtrack of spirited dance music. The Merry Wives of Windsor will run in CST's Courtyard Theater December 3, 2013 through January 19, 2014.

For The End Of Time tells the story of creation of Olivier Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of Time," as well as Messiaen's ill-fated marriage to the violinist, Clare Delbos; and his love affair with his brilliant protege, the pianist, Yvonne Loriod.
