May Mayhem returns this year with Power Plays. Theatre of Yugen is deeply indebted to the history of civil rights, community, and social justice that the current President and his administration are so flagrantly disregarding. So they're fighting back with their favorite weapon: satire. The history of ky?gen is that of satirizing those in power, revealing them to be no better (or sometimes even worse!) than the common man. Theatre of Yugen is excited to present two classic ky?gen plays, A Religious Dispute and Wrestling With a Mosquito, and premiere two contemporary ky?gen adaptations, Those Mushrooms and All Wrecked Up.

Sandra Kaufmann, former soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company will guest with Kanopy Dance in their concert entitled 'Dark Tales', a program of thought-provoking dance that ranges in styles from classical modern to physical theater, February 9-18 in Madison Wisconsin. Ms. Kaufmann will appear in her original solo 'A People's Cry', a modern response to violence again women; and modern dance choreographer Deborah Zall's 'La Bonne Dame: Remembering George Sand', (the novelist who adopted a male persona to ply her craft more freely). Ms. Kaufmann will also teach a master class at the Kanopy Studio on Thursday February 8.

As Sweet Venues approach their third year at Brighton Fringe, they have announced two new venue partnerships the Werks in Middle Street (formerly the Brighton Media Centre), and the Duke of Wellington pub on Upper Gloucester Road near Brighton Station. These will join their existing venues at Sweet Dukebox and Sweet St Andrews, bringing their offering up to five spaces for 2018, ranging from 25-100 seats.
