Performances began January 21st, with an official opening night that was celebrated on January 29th. The return engagement was scheduled to run until March 8th only, but today's New York Times reports that the show has extended through March 20.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) continues its 2008-09 season Koret Visiting Artist Series with 'The Inner 'I': How Artists See Themselves,' a conversation with Lotfi Mansouri, celebrated opera director and the general director emeritus of the San Francisco Opera; Judy Kaye, the Tony Award-winning star of A.C.T.'s Souvenir; and the internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Frederica von Stade. Moderated by A.C.T. Artistic Director Carey Perloff, the conversation will focus on the different ways artists view themselves and how these self-images affect their work. 'The Inner 'I' is presented in conjunction with A.C.T.'s production of Stephen Temperley's Souvenir, which tells the story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite and tone-deaf diva who thought she was a great soprano. The conversation will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience. Tony Award-nominated actor Jonathan Groff and Daytime Emmy-nominated actress Mandy Bruno have joined the growing list of North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) alumni from Broadway and members of the television community to support the financially struggling musical theatre-in-the-round at events in New York City next week.
NSMT alumni from Broadway and the NYC television community will be appearing at Joe's Pub and The theatre at Saint Peters, home of The York Theatre Company in New York City.The not-for-profit North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) in Beverly, MA is facing severe financial difficulties. The NSMT has provided performing arts and educational programming to millions for 55 years. Effects of the crumpling economy, lower than expected donations and ticket sales all season long have left the theatre unable to cover its operating costs - a national decade-long trend that is impacting theaters across the country. In light of the current situation, the NSMT alumni from Broadway and the NYC television community will be appearing at Joe's Pub. Brian Usifer and select members of the NSMT orchestra will play as well.
