Children's Books Hit Stage at KIDSFEST in Manila, Now thru 1/26

Well-loved children's books 'The Gruffalo's Child' and 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' are set to hit the local theatre scene via 'KidsFest,' a children's theatre festival slated today, Jan. 17 to the 26th, 2014, at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati.

Writers Theatre's THE MLK PROJECT Set for Chicago History Museum, 1/20

Writers Theatre opens its 8th annual tour of The MLK Project: The Fight for Civil Rights, written by Yolanda Androzzo, directed by Jimmy McDermott and featuring Caren Blackmore. A special Martin Luther King, Jr. Day public performance will take place at 10am on January 20 at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N Clark Street in Chicago.

Salonga, Harris and Zamora to Lead Benefit Concert in Manila, Jan 29-30

On January 29 & 30, the creators of the international musical sensations LES MISERABLES and Miss Saigon will present a special concert celebrating their work at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre in Manila to raise funds to offer humanitarian relief and assist the rebuilding efforts after parts of the Philippines were left devastated in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).

San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Reveal 2013 Craig Noel Award Nominees

Dominating the nominations in the musical category is the current Broadway sensation 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder,' which made its world premiere in February 2013 at San Diego's The Old Globe (a co-production with Hartford Stage). The musical racked up 11 nominations, including nods for New Musical, its versatile star Jefferson Mays (a UC San Diego alumnus) and its director Darko Tresnjak (former co-artistic director and Shakespeare Festival director at The Old Globe).

Philip Glass, Tyondai Braxton and Ben Vida, & More to Perform at Philippines Benefit Concert for Typhoon Haiyan, 12/19

START HERE collaborates with composer/musician Tyondai Braxton and Le Poisson Rouge to present Philippines Benefit Concert for Typhoon Haiyan on Thursday, December 19 at 8:00 PM at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street, NYC). The night features performances by legendary composer Philip Glass, Tyondai Braxton + Ben Vida, Prefuse 73, Satomi Matsuzaki of Deerhoof, Dan Friel of Parts & Labor, DJ Jon Santos and special guests to be announced. This one-night-only benefit concert brings aid to the Philippines in response to super typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). All proceeds will benefit A Single Drop (ASD), a Philippines-based NGO dedicated to shaping mid- to long-term aid in water and sanitation, as well as sustainable strategies for shelter, food security and livelihood.
