The Los Angeles Philharmonic announces its 98th summer season at the Hollywood Bowl. Five musicians from the LA Phil and eleven musicians from Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA), including five YOLA alumni, will travel to Princeton University this month as part of Gustavo Dudamel's residency at Princeton University Concerts, in celebration of its 125th anniversary as one of the oldest concert series in the country. In addition to the LA Phil and YOLA performances, Dudamel's January 7 through 9 visit will also include panel discussions on topics including the intersection of art and faith, civic engagement, and El Sistema.

The Gish Prize Trust today announced that the inspired Music and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, has been selected to receive the 25th annual Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in recognition of his ongoing achievements as a conductor and an advocate for music education. Established in 1994 through the will of legendary stage and screen actress Lillian Gish, known as the First Lady of Cinema, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize is one of the most prestigious honors given to artists in the United States and bears one of the largest cash awards, currently valued at approximately $250,000.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association announces details for the second annual National Take a Stand Festival (July 5 to 14, 2018) and the sixth annual Take a Stand Symposium (July 13 and 14, 2018) in Los Angeles. The National Take a Stand Festival is an unprecedented initiative, launched in 2015 with the mission of creating a unified national platform for U.S. programs inspired by and aligned with El Sistema, the visionary Venezuelan program that nurtured LA Phil Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel. The Festival culminates with performances from two national youth orchestras comprised of students from El Sistema-inspired and aligned programs from across the U.S., with conductors including Gustavo Dudamel and Michael Morgan, in a concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall on July 14.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association has announced the four conductors who will participate in the 2018/19 Dudamel Fellowship Program: Nuno Coelho, Stephen Mulligan, Elena Schwarz, and Jesus Uzcategui. Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel, together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, created the Dudamel Fellowship Program in 2009 to provide a unique opportunity for promising young conductors from around the world to develop their craft and enrich their musical experience through personal mentorship and participation in the LA Phil's orchestral, education, and community programs.
