The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University presents Twyla Tharp – 50th Anniversary Tour including two Chicago premieres, “Preludes and Fugues” and “Yowzie” this week, November 5 – 8, at the historic Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. CHICAGO—Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Zell Music Director Riccardo Muti and CSO Association (CSOA) President Jeff Alexander announce the appointment of two new viola section members: Sunghee Choi and Youming Chen.

A 40th anniversary should be celebrated with gusto, and the World Music program at Oakland University intends to do just that on Friday, Nov. 6, with two 40th Anniversary Concerts featuring two guests. Both Ghana's master musician Bernard Woma and Professor Emeritus Marvin (Doc) Holladay, who established OU's World Music program in 1975, will play with the African Ensemble, the Steel Band and the World Percussion Ensemble.

Ukulele sensation Jake Shimabukuro returns to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre for another astounding performance at 8 p.m. tonight, October 29.

Kravis Center for the Performing Arts Sunday, November 15 at 2 pm and 7 pm. Multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Caroline Jones will open each performance. 

Raleigh, N.C. - The North Carolina Symphony's Raleigh and Chapel Hill Classical seasons continue tonight, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m., in Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh, and in Memorial Hall on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m., in 'An Evening with Jeffrey & Gabriel Kahane,' a program that features father and son, pianist and conductor Jeffrey Kahane, and songwriter/composer/vocalist Gabriel Kahane.

As part of its 2015-2016 season announcement, Carnegie Hall recently shared that singer-songwriter Rosanne Cash will curate a four-concert Perspectives series at the Hall beginning this month.

Guest pianist Haochen Zhang, co-winner of the Gold Medal at the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition, will expertly undertake the consummate challenges of the Prokofiev piano concerto, and Maestro Milanov will bring to vivid life the heartless seducer of Strauss' tone poem Don Juan.

Grammy Award-nominated concert pianist Lang Lang makes his first of three appearances at Carnegie Hall this season with a solo recital today, October 23 at 8:30 p.m. in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. The concert features Bach's Italian Concerto, BWV 971-a complex and pioneering work inspired by Vivaldi-along with Tchaikovsky's The Seasons, Op. 37b and Chopin's four scherzos. By the time he was 22 years old, the acclaimed pianist had already performed twice at Carnegie Hall -with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yuri Temirkanov in 2001 and with the New York String Orchestra under Jaime Laredo in 2002-before making his sold-out solo recital debut in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage on November 7, 2003, which was recorded live by Deutsche Grammophon.

Annenberg Center Live opens its dance season with four performances from Urban Bush Women. This legendary all-female dance troupe performs this weekend, October 22-24 as part of Dance @ Annenberg Center Live and the Annenberg Center's African Roots, American Voices programming series. ANNAPOLIS, MD – ASO Concertmaster, Netanel Draiblate will perform Antonín Dvo?ák's Concerto for Violin in the next set of Lexus Classic Series concerts with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 8pm.  Music Director José-Luis Novo will also conduct the orchestra in the Petite Suite originally composed by Claude Debussy and orchestrated by Henri Büsser, and Symphony No. 3 by Johannes Brahms.
