Ted Nash Big Band to Play Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, 10/31-11/3

Come enjoy the Ted Nash Big Band premiere performance of 'Chakra' on October 31-November 3, 2013 at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola. The newly released Nash masterpiece features a 16-piece big band with a long-form composition in seven movements. The intimate club setting will highlight the GRAMMY-nominated multi-instrumentalist's talents as a performer/composer/bandleader.

Public Theater to Continue Forum Season with JOSEPH STIGLITZ ON THE RICH AND POOR, 12/9

The Public Theater will continue its Public Forum season with PUBLIC FORUM SOLO: JOSEPH STIGLITZ ON THE RICH AND POOR on Monday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Joe's Pub. This one-night-only event will feature a talk by Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz on income inequality and what the artistic community can do about it, followed by a conversation featuring Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC, Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, and Public Works Director Lear deBessonet.

Garth Fagan Dance to Return to Joyce Theater, 11/12-17

Garth Fagan's love of strong women is front and center in "No Evidence of Failure," which receives its world premiere when Garth Fagan Dance returns to The Joyce Theater, November 12-17. The two-program season also features the world premiere of "Gin," marking Norwood Pennewell's third work for the company. The season's revivals include Fagan's 1983 classic "Easter Freeway Processional" and "Senku," whose music will be played live by concert pianist William Chapman Nyaho. Also slated for Fagan's New York season are sections from last year's hit "Lighthouse/Lightning Rod," as well as Fagan's perennial opener "Prelude: Discipline is Freedom"

Miller Theatre to Welcome Aaron Diehl & Trio, 11/23

Hailed by The New York Times as a 'revelation,' and the Chicago Tribune as 'the most promising discovery that [Wynton] Marsalis has made since Eric Reed,' Aaron Diehl is the 2011 Cole Porter Fellow in Jazz of the American Pianists Association. His distinctive interpretations of the music of Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, Art Tatum, Duke Ellington, and other masters pay homage to the tradition while establishing an original voice.

BWW Reviews: Tony Winner Bernadette Peters Makes Exquisite Return to OC

On the evening of October 11, Peters made an exquisite concert return to the OC accompanied by an incredible mini-orchestra helmed by longtime musical director Marvin Laird, which kicked off Segertrom Center for the Arts' 2013-2014 Cabaret series. As somewhat expected, the concert was a beautifully executed affair, providing the audience with several reasons to be awed.

Noted Guitarists Chip Wilson, Brian Camelio and Sean Harkness Team Up For Stage 72 Gig, 11/5

As a prelude to playing three shows in Vermont on November 9 and 10 that will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of The Vermont Pub & Brewery (the state's first Brewpub), New York-based guitarists Sean Harkness and Brian Camelio will be joined by New Orleanian Chip Wilson for a New York show on November 5 at Stage 72. The musicians will bring a program of original, New Orleans and classic covers with elements of jazz, folk and blues to New York and Burlington, with several Vermont musicians sitting in. For the Vermont shows later in the month, the trio will be joined by Vermont's own Lucas Adler, reuniting the group that played at VP & B at its start in 1988.
