The legendary Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will make its long-awaited Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) debut on Sunday 6 March 2016.
The Branford Marsalis Quartet was formed in 1986 and quickly raised the bar for other ensembles of its kind. Gabrielle Stravelli - the celebrated pop/jazz vocalist and songwriter - will debut at Kitano Jazz Club (66 Park Avenue at 38th Street) tonight, December 16 with shows at 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
All the verses and their titles are constructed solely of jazz tunes with two exceptions. The title exception is 'Jazz Haiku.' The content exception is 'Vibraphonissimo,' a chronological block of vibraphone players whose music I've come to know, resting upon the two pioneers of the instrument. Commas separate titles within the verses, but interior commas from song titles have been removed to prevent confusion.
Assembling a stellar cast of rising stars in the worlds of R&B, funk, soul, jazz and classical, Thelonious Monk Competition Winner and Grammy Award-winning bassist Ben Williams pays tribute to the musical legacy of Prince at Harlem Stage, December 11 and 12.
