Upcoming Theatre Communication Group Member Shows - 1/08 for Pittsburgh

OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, has announced that it has awarded nearly $200,000 in Audience Development grants, as part of The Opera Fund, to 16 U.S. opera companies.

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and PNC Broadway Across America-Pittsburgh announce that NETworks Presentations, LLC will bring the multi-award-winning Billy Elliot the Musical to Pittsburgh's Benedum Center from January 31 through February 12, 2012.

The Weather Channel Companies (TWCC) announced today it has greenlit BRAVING THE ELEMENTS a new docudrama anthology series revealing the work, subculture and characters of professions that take place outdoors and are impacted by weather, seasons and extreme locations.

Tickets for Cameron Mackintosh's new 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables will go on sale at 10 a.m., Friday, October 21 for the premiere San Antonio engagement at the Majestic Theatre. The all new production of Les Miserables features glorious new staging and spectacular reimagined scenery inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo.

Billy Elliot on tour will come to the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre in Orlando, FL, from February 15 2012 to February 26 2012.

WE tv announced today that the network has greenlit the original series TAMAR & VINCE (working title) for its 2012 programming slate. The series will showcase Tamar Braxton and husband Vincent Herbert as they navigate their hectic lives, from Tamar's solo album to Vince's busy career as a successful music producer.

Papatango have teamed up with one of London's leading new writing venues, the Finborough Theatre to present the winning entries in the 2011 Papatango Playwriting Competition 2011, featuring this year's winning play Foxfinder by Dawn King which will play for a four week limited season from 29 November (Press Night: Thursday, 1 December 2011 at 8.30pm) and three runners up who will each receive a one week run - Through The Night by Matt Morrison (Press Night: Wednesday, 7 December 2011 at 6.30pm), Rigor Mortis by Carol Vine (Press Night:Wednesday, 14 December 2011 at 6.30pm) and Crush by Rob Young (Press Night: Tuesday, 20 December 2011 at 6.30pm).

The Kennedy Center in association with NETworks Presentations, LLC presents the multi-award-winning Billy Elliot the Musical in the Kennedy Center Opera House from December 13, 2011 to January 15, 2012.

COMEDY CENTRAL: January 2012 Programming Highlights (all times are et/pt)

Robots taking over the world, a critic reviewing difficult life experiences, social networking, a closed-captioner gone wild, a music group trying to get discovered online and reviving a public affairs show from the 80's. These are just a few of the creative concepts coming out of COMEDY CENTRAL's 2011-2012 development slate announced today by Kent Alterman, Head of Original Programming and Production, COMEDY CENTRAL.

TNT has ordered a pilot for Chelsea General (working title), a new medical drama series from award-winning producer David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope) and practicing neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, M.D. Kelley and Dr. Gupta will executive-produce. Kelley wrote the pilot script for the series, which is based on Gupta's upcoming novel Monday Mornings.

The International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood has just announced the nominations and award recipients for the 38th Annual Annie Awards. Award recipients will claim their trophies at the 39th Annual Annie Awards scheduled for Saturday, February 4, 2012 at UCLA's Royce Hall in Los Angeles, California.
