The Colony Theatre Company presents the fifth and final production of its 2008 - 2009 season, the Los Angeles premiere of the Off-Broadway, Smash-Hit Musical Thriller, NO WAY TO TREAT A LADY, book, music and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen, (based on the novel by William Goldman) and co-directed by West Hyler and Shelley Butler.

Photo Flash: McCarter Theatre Center Announces Casting For THE BROTHER/SISTER PLAYS, 4/24 - 6/21

The Tony Award® -winning McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ, has announced the complete cast for the world premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's landmark trilogy The Brother/Sister Plays. Presented in two parts, the production will be presented with a single cast and performed in repertory in McCarter's Berlind Theatre. The Brother/Sister Plays is co-produced with New York's Public Theater.

Lark Presents THE MOUNTAINTOP Workshop Production 4/29-5/2

This month, the Lark Play Development Center will present a BareBones® production of THE MOUNTAINTOP by Katori Hall (Hoodoo Love). This workshop production comes as the next stage of development for the play, which was part of the Lark's 2007-08 Playwrights' Workshop program led by Lark Playwright Advisor Arthur Kopit.

ANGELA'S MIXTAPE Comes To New Georges 4/6-5/2

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, and Hip-Hop Theater Festival will present the premiere of OBIE Winning Actress/Pulitzer-nominated playwright Eisa Davis' 'ANGELA'S MIXTAPE,' directed by Liesl Tommy. Ms. Davis who was recently seen on Broadway in last season's award-winning musical Passing Strange will portray herself and Linda Powell, last seen on Broadway in the Tony-nominated revival On Golden Pond, will portray her aunt, professor and activist Angela Davis. 'ANGELA'S MIXTAPE' will be performed at the Ohio Theatre, 66 Wooster Street (between Spring and Broome Streets). Previews begin Monday, April 6, and the official Opening Night will be Thursday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. Performances will run through May 2.

Women's Project's Sadie Hawkins Dance Spectacular Benefit To Be Held 4/29

Is Sadie Hawkins Day a women's project? This is 2009, right? Well, it is a Women's Project project, especially when its goal is to raise money to support women theatre artists. So, in keeping with the dictum that anything a man can do, a woman can do just as well, but backwards and in heels, Women's Project's spring fund-raiser is a Sadie Hawkins Dance Spectacular Wednesday, April 29, from 9:00 pm at Touch Nightclub, 240 West 52nd Street.

Crowley, Long Receive TDF/Irene Sharaff Award 3/27

Legendary designers WILLIAM IVEY LONG and BOB CROWLEY are among the four recipients of 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards to be presented at a ceremony this Friday, March 27 at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Five-time Tony Award winning costume designer William Ivey Long will receive the 2009 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for theatrical costume design, and, for his achievements as both a costume and scenic designer, Bob Crowley (also a five-time Tony Award winner) will receive the TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards' special Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Lifetime Achievement in Theatrical Design.

HAIR 'Lets the Sun Shine In on Broadway', Previews Begin March 6, 2009

Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater, has announced the 26-member Broadway cast of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Newcomers to the cast include Gavin Creel, Caissie Levy and Sasha Allen, who join the rest of the tribe, who are reprising their roles from Central Park last summer. HAIR begins preview performances on Friday, March 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street, NYC) with an Opening Night set for Tuesday, March 31, 2009.

Flux Theater Ensemble To Produce 3 Plays In 2009/10 Season

Following the success of their last season where they were named one of nytheatre.com's 'People of the Year', Flux Theatre Ensemble will produce 3 plays in its 2009/10 season. Last year, Flux's A Midsummer Night's Dream was a Backstage Magazine 'pick' and was called 'immediately accessible and thematically adventurous' by Theatermania. For their New York Fringe production of Other Bodies, Heather Cohn won a Fringe Excellence Award for Outstanding Direction and Flux's ambitious Angel Eaters Trilogy received accolades from critics for being 'wildly ambitious', 'a veritable festival of theatre' and 'a model for other brave artists and production companies.'

The Pat Schoenfeld Scholarship is part of WP's Ten Centuries of Women Playwrights arts program teaching script reading, playwriting and acting to improve literacy, collaboration and communication skills, and to promote greater awareness of women's historic contribution to the theater.

The European Premiere of a new play OOHRAH by Bekah Brunstetter Listen. There's nothin goin down over there. Anybody who's over there is just trainin' the new police. Playin' card games, accidentally settin' flares off and lightin' their own pants on fire. It's not a f**kin' video game, it's not Vietnam, it's California, it's Summer camp.' In Fayetteville, North Carolina, sits one of the South's largest military bases. Practically everybody's somebody is over there. Flight Attendant Abby has finally agreed to settle down with her thoroughly unmilitary fianc?. Her sister Sara is thrilled to have her own husband back home once and for all. But when a mysterious Marine shows up on Abby's red-eye flight, all bets on stability are off. Oohrah! asks how we can remain true to ourselves when the pressures of domestic and military expectation threaten all.
