On November 8 renowned singer-songwriter, composer, musician and poet Alicia Jo Rabins will debut her brand new, full-length performative song cycle A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff at Joe's Pub in New York City.

The National Theatre Conference (NTC), an organization founded in 1925 that meets annually in New York to discuss relevant issues in today's theatre community and to celebrate outstanding achievement in the American theatre, has named the recipients of its 2012 awards. Broadway producer Elizabeth McCann has been named Person of the Year; the New Federal Theatre, under the direction of its founder, Woodie King, Jr., is the recipient of the Theatre of the Year Award; and playwright Dominique Morisseau has been selected as the winner of the Barrie and Bernice Stavis Playwright Award. All three will be presented with their awards and honored at the Players and at Signature Theatre during NTC's annual conference in New York October 26-28, 2012.

Balancin' Productions presents the world premiere of Follow by Crystal Skillman October 19 through November 3, 2012 at Fanfare Theatre (100 East 4th Street, between First and Second Ave.). Daniel Talbott (Eightythree Down, Hard Sparks; The Umbrella Plays, the teacup company/FringeNYC - Overall Excellence Award: Outstanding Play and at The Tank) directs.

WorkShop Theater Company announces the world premiere production of Gary Giovannetti's TARRAGONA, directed by Elysa Marden. TARRAGONA will play a limited engagement on the Main Stage at WorkShop Theater. Performances begin tonight, October 4 and continue through Saturday, October 27. Opening Night is Saturday, October 6 (8 pm).

Her Hamlet kicks off an exciting line-up for the University of Pittsburgh Repertory Theatre. Her Hamlet, devised by Lisa Jackson-Schebetta and Theo Allyn and directed by Lisa Jackson-Schebetta, will play Henry Heymann Theatre, Stephen Foster Memorial, 4200 Fifth Ave, tonight, October 4, 2012 - October 13, 2012.

Previews begin Friday, October 12 for the Playwrights Horizons' production of THE WHALE, the New York premiere of a new play by Obie Award winner Samuel D. Hunter (A Bright New Boise). Directed by Davis McCallum (February House, A Bright New Boise, the upcoming Water By the Spoonful at Second Stage), the production has an Opening Night set for Monday, November 5 at 7PM at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Ars Nova presents the world premiere of Ars Nova 2011 Composer-in-Residence Dave Malloy's Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Directed by Rachel Chavkin, this production will play a limited Off-Broadway engagement, beginning previews this coming Monday, October 1 and running through November 10. The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance presents the regional premiere of Lisa D'Amour's The Cataract, October 19 - 28 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre. Set in Minneapolis in 1883, this poetic drama explores one week in the lives of Cyrus and Lottie Finch, a stalwart couple who take in two vagabond lovers from the South. The unlikely pairs' intersection unearths their deep-seated desires - ones that they fight to keep buried.

Join Archipelago Books, Poets House, and the Romanian Cultural Institute for a night of poetry in honor of Nichita St?nescu - 'the greatest contemporary Romanian poet' (Tomaž Šalamun) - and Sean Cotter's remarkable translation of Wheel with a Single Spoke and Other Poems. With readings by actor Vasile Flutur and Sean Cotter, in conversation with Saviana St?nescu. Wine and cheese reception to follow.

Media At Large Productions has announced that it will present a unique revival of Tennessee Williams' IN THE BAR OF A TOKYO HOTEL. The play will run off-Broadway at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street) with previews beginning on Saturday, October 13th and continue until Sunday, October 28th. The production will have it's official opening on Wednesday, October 17th at 8PM. This distinctive revival, co-directed by Shashi Balooja and Maria Torres will be the first to incorporate live streaming video and dance. Maria Torres will also choreograph.

Rehearsals have begun for "Seminar," the sexy, smart new comedy starring Jeff Goldblum, an Academy Award and Emmy Award-nominee. "Seminar," by Pulitzer Prize finalist and "Smash" creator Theresa Rebeck and directed by Obie Award-winner Sam Gold, begins previews October 10 and opens October 17, 2012, at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. The Brown University/Trinity Rep MFA Programs will present one of Shakespeare's most intriguing plays, The Winter's Tale, directed by Taibi Magar (Brown/Trinity Rep MFA Programs '14). With a story that is both epic and intimate, The Winter's Tale is a roller coaster ride from tragedy to romance to redemption, boasting some of Shakespeare's most beautiful poetry. A soul-stirring hit in London and on Broadway, The Mountaintop's humorous, magical storytelling fuses theatricality with spirituality to reach a summit that will leave audiences breathless. The Mountaintop is written by playwright Katori Hall and will be directed by Rep Artistic Associate May Adrales, who returns to The Rep after directing last season's critically-acclaimed production of Yellowman. The Mountaintop runs in The Rep's Stiemke Studio from September 26 - November 4, and opens Friday, September 28.
