TheatreWorks to Present UPRIGHT GRAND, 7/11-8/10

TheatreWorks, the nationally acclaimed theatre of Silicon Valley, launches its 43rd season with the world premiere of UPRIGHT GRAND, a play with live music by acclaimed playwright Laura Schellhardt (Auctioning the Ainsleys). A hit at last year's New Works Festival, this tender and intelligent portrait of the complex relationship between a father and daughter will be helmed by TheatreWorks New Works Director Meredith McDonough. Dan Hiatt will star as aging songwriter "Pops," with Renata Friedman as "Kiddo" and Brett Ryback as "The Accompanist." UPRIGHT GRAND plays July 11 - August 10, 2011 (press opening July 14) at TheatreWorks at the Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto. Women's Project Presents World Premiere of WE PLAY FOR THE GODS, Now thru 6/23

Women's Project will end its 34th season with an off-Broadway show of epic proportions when seven playwrights, four directors, three producers and five actors collaborate on one world premiere play titled from the famous Ellen Stewart quote We Play for The Gods. We Play for The Gods stars Annie Golden, Amber Gray, Alexandra Henrikson, Irene Sofia Lucio and Erika Rolfsud. It opens tonight, June 11, at 7:30pm for a run through Saturday, June 23, at the Cherry Lane Theatre, 38 Commerce Street.

PINKALICIOUS Returns to 45 Bleecker Beginning 7/7

Vital Theatre Company today announced that PINKALICIOUS, THE MUSICAL will return to 45 Bleecker on July 7th, 2012 with performances Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm following it's current run at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center (MMAC), which ends July 1st.

PSYCHO THERAPY Closes Off-Broadway Tonight, 5/26

Frank Strausser's hit Off-Broadway comedy PSYCHO THERAPY must end its run at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) on schedule today, May 26th, 2012 to make way for the previously scheduled Women's Project Theater's production of WE PLAY FOR THE GODS.

PSYCHO THERAPY Begins Final 11 Performances; Concludes 5/26

Steppenwolf's WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? to Preview on Broadway Sept. 27, 2012; Understudy EPAs Set for Jun. 5

According to an Equity Audition notice, the Steppenwolf's production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf will begin previews on Broadway on September 27, 2012 in anticipation of its previously announced October 13, 2012 opening at a Shubert Theatre to be announced. Pam Mackinnon will continue to helm the project. Jerry Frankel, Jeffrey Richards Susan Q. Gallin and Mary Lu Roffe will produce.

Becky Ann Baker and Dylan Baker Join Page 73 Spring Benefit, 5/11

Becky Ann Baker (GOOD PEOPLE, "Freaks and Geeks") and Dylan Baker (GOD OF CARNAGE, "Kings") will join previously announced Christopher Abbott ("Martha Marcy May Marlene," HBO's Girls and 2011 Broadway revival of HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES) for the "bake off" portion of Page 73 Productions' Spring Benefit on Friday, May 11 at 7:00pm at City Winery (155 Varick Street) in Manhattan. Tony Award-winner Julie White (THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED) will host.
