The Queen's Company to Stage All-Female SIR PATIENT FANCY at The Wild Project, 3/15-4/5

The Queen's Company, New York City's acclaimed all-female classical theater company, presents a rare production of Aphra Behn's Sir Patient Fancy, directed by The Queen's Company Artistic Director Rebecca Patterson. Sir Patient Fancy runs from March 15 - April 5, 2014 in a limited engagement at the Wild Project, located at 195 East 3rd Street between Avenue A and Avenue B in New York City.

Sharon Bush, Philanthropist & Founder/Chief Executive Officer of Teddy Share, Arianna Huffington, Chair, President & Editor-in-Chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, and Joan Vail Thorne, playwright and director, were Women's Project Theater's 2014 Women of Achievement, who were inducted at its 29th Annual Gala Celebration at the Mandarin Oriental, 80 Columbus Circle, on Monday, March 10. Veanne Cox and Doug Wamble lead a musical tribute to lyricist Dorothy Fields. Also on hand throughout the evening were presenters David Hyde Pierce and Stanley Zareff. Check out a look back below!

The Deer Players to Present THE BRINK OF US at South Oxford Space, 4/25-5/17

The Deer Players (Producers Julia Piker and Peter Staley) will present the World Premiere of THE BRINK OF US by Delaney Britt Brewer (Wolves at 59e59) April 25-May 17 at South Oxford Space (138 South Oxford Street between Atlantic Ave and Hanson Place, Brooklyn). The production will be directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni (AliceGraceAnon with New Georges) and feature Daniel Cuff, Tom Kelsey, Starr Kirkland, Annelise Nielsen, Julia Piker, Peter Staley, Zachary J. Smith, and Linda Tardif. The creative team will include Set and Lighting Design by Nick Francone (Vampire Cowboys) with assistance from Rachel Schapira, and Costume Design by Ethan Berube. The production is presented with support from New Georges.

DARK WATER Explores the Effects of An Oil Spill with Manhattan Theatre Works, Now thru 3/29

MANHATTAN THEATRE WORKS (MTWorks), in association with the Theater Series at the 14th Street Y, is pleased to announce the world premiere of MTWorks Co-Artistic Director David Stallings' DARK WATER, directed by Heather Cohn. DARK WATER, a play about the ramifications of the Gulf oil spill, will play a three week engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street at 1st Avenue). Performances begin tonight, March 14 and continue through Saturday, March 29

HUMAN FRUIT BOWL to Paint Portrait of Live Nude Modeling Off-Broadway, Beg. 3/27

After winning the FringeNYC Overall Excellence Award and Best Production at Prague Fringe Festival, HUMAN FRUIT BOWL makes the leap to Off-Broadway. This acclaimed portrait of live nude modeling is written by Andrea Kuchlewska, performed by Harmony Stempel, and directed by Jessi D. Hill. Presented by Baruch Performing Arts Center in association with terraNOVA Collective & soloNOVA Arts, performances of this limited engagement begin March 27 at the Rose Nagelberg Theater. Opening night is March 30.

Mirror Stage to Present DETROIT '67, 4/5-6

Mirror Stage will close its Feed Your Mind season with the Northwest premiere of Detroit '67 by Dominique Morisseau on April 5 & 6, 2014 at the Ethnic Cultural Theatre in Seattle's University District. Detroit '67 was recently awarded the Edward M. Kennedy Prize, which honors a new play or musical that explores the nation's past and deals with 'great issues of our day.' According to the unanimous jury, Detroit '67 'explores an explosive and decisive moment in a great American city' and has 'compelling characters struggle with racial tension and economic instability.' Directed by Suzanne M. Cohen, Mirror Stage's Feed Your Mind presentation of Detroit '67 features Jonte Ausler (Sly), Treavor Boykin (Lank), Adria LaMorticella (Caroline), Takia Thompson (Bunny) and Shontina Vernon (Chelle), with sound design by Joseph Swartz.

Reg E. Cathey Joins Cast of EXODUS, Playing Fraunces Tavern Museum Flag Gallery, 4/5

REG E. CATHEY (House of Cards, The Wire) joins the cast of EXODUS: DREAMS OF THE PROMISED LAND IN ANTEBELLUM AMERICA, playing multiple roles including Solomon Northrup (Twelve Years a Slave) and the Abolitionist Frederick Douglass. The cast also includes ROSALYN COLEMAN WILLIAMS (The Mountaintop, Seven Guitars, The Piano Lesson) in multiple roles including Elizabeth Keckley (familiar to audiences from the movie Lincoln), JENNIFER RAU as Abolitionist Angelina Grimke, and the noted vocal ensemble THE WESTERN WIND. Conceived by Salon/Sanctuary's Founding Artistic Director Jessica Gould to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, EXODUS was originally presented last year in a sold-out performance staged at the historic Fraunces Tavern, the oldest structure in Manhattan.

Magic Theatre to Stage World Premiere of Linda McLean's EVERY FIVE MINUTES, Beg. 3/26

Magic Theatre will welcome back one of Scotland's leading contemporary playwrights, Linda McLean, with the world premiere of Every Five Minutes, directed by Producing Artistic Director Loretta Greco. Every Five Minutes runs March 26 - April 20. Deemed 'a gritty, fiercely empathetic realist of great skill' (San Francisco Chronicle), McLean's new play celebrates the miraculous power of the human spirit. Every Five Minutes begins with a simple homecoming dinner that takes a fantastical turn as Mo slips into a dreamscape that even those closest to him can't imagine.

Stage Adaptation of FATELESSNESS Runs 4/9-13 at HERE

From April 9 to 13 at HERE Arts Center, actor Adam Boncz will perform 'Fatelessness,' the first stage adaptation of the novel of the same name by Imre Kertesz, recipient of the 2002 Nobel Prize in Literature. The book is the story of a Hungarian teenage boy who survives a passage through three WWII concentration camps. The play is a 75-minute rendition of the book, adapted verbatim by Andras Visky from the translation by Tim Wilkinson. Gia Forakis directs.

Jeffrey Bean, Melissa Pritchett and More Set for Alley Theatre's COMMUNICATING DOORS; Cast & Creative Team Announced!

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Alan Ayckbourn's science fiction comedy Communicating Doors. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.

Veanne Cox, Adam LeFevre to Lead Catherine Trieschmann's THE MOST DESERVING at Women's Project Theater, Begin. 3/30

Catherine Trieschmann is back in New York at Women's Project Theater with a tart, satirical skewing of small town cultural wars entitled The Most Deserving. This New York premiere by the acclaimed playwright of crooked and How The World Began (also produced by Women's Project Theater) who is a resident of a small town in western Kansas is directed by Shelley Butler and begins previews Sunday, March 30, at 2:30pm for an opening Tuesday, April 8, at 7:30pm (runs through May 4) at New York City Center Stage II, 131 West 55th Street. Rehearsals begin today, Friday, March 7.

Pioneer Theatre Company to Stage DEATHTRAP, 3/28-4/12

Written in 1978, Deathtrap still holds the record for longest-running comedy thriller on Broadway. Sidney Bruhl is a playwright desperately in need of a hit. Just in time, a former student sends him the manuscript of his first play, a murder mystery called Deathtrap. Sidney smells a hit, but he's never been that fond of sharing credit. TIME Magazine said, 'If you care to assassinate yourself with laughter, try Deathtrap.'

Jungle Theater to Present DETROIT, 4/11-5/25

The Jungle Theater presents the regional premiere of DETROIT, playwright Lisa D'Amour's award-winning dissection of what it means to be middle class in this era of economic uncertainty. Detroit takes place in a first-ring suburb outside a mid-sized American city where Ben (John Middleton) and Mary (Angie Timberman) fire up the grill to welcome the couple (Anna Sundberg and Tyson Forbes) who've moved into the long-empty house next door. The fledgling friendship soon veers out of control shattering the fragile hold that newly unemployed Ben and burgeoning alcoholic Mary have on their way of life - with unexpected comic consequences. The play opens April 11 and runs through May 25 at the Jungle Theater, 2951 Lyndale Av. S. in Minneapolis.

The Billie Holiday Theatre to Stage The World Premiere of MAID'S DOOR, 3/6-3/30

The Billie Holiday Theatre continues its 42nd Season Generations United with the World Premiere of Maid's Door by Writers Guild Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Cheryl L. Davis; the show will be directed by the Theatre's Artistic Director Jackie Alexander. Opening Night will be Thursday, March 6; and the show will run through Sunday, March 30. Performances are Thursday-Saturday at 8pm with matinees on Saturday at 3pm and Sunday at 4pm. All tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.thebillieholiday.org or by calling the box office at 718-636-0918 or 0919. A discounted rate of $15 is available for Children 15 and younger, Seniors, and Students with a valid ID.

Mo'olelo Performing Arts Company Names Lydia Fort Executive Artistic Director

San Diego's award-winning theatre, Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, announced today the selection of Lydia Fort as its new Executive Artistic Director. Fort is an experienced director in New York with additional regional directing, teaching and producing experience. She will join the company in mid-May.

16th Street Theater, in collaboration with New York's Lark Play Development Center, presents the rolling premiere of Andrea Thome's Pinkolandia directed by Artistic Director Ann Filmer performing April 3 - May 10, 2014 at North Berwyn Park District's 16th Street Theater, 6420 16th Street in Berwyn, with a press opening of Thursday, April 10 at 7:30 PM.
