Chautauqua Theater Company Presents Dominique Morisseau's DETROIT '67

???????Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), under the leadership of Artistic Director Andrew Borba and Managing Director Sarah Clare Corporandy, is honored to open Dominique Morisseau's Detroit '67, directed by Steve H. Broadnax III. Detroit '67 will run July 21- 30th at Bratton Theater at the Chautauqua Institution. Tickets are $35 and are currently on sale.

Brooklyn College Presents the 12th Annual Weasel Festival Hosted by the Public Theater

The Department of Theater at Brooklyn College is one of New York City's outstanding institutions in the training of theater artists. With the assistance of a generous grant from the Tow Foundation, the Department of Theater in conjunction with the MFA Playwriting Program, headed by co-coordinators Mac Wellman and Erin Courtney, will present the annual Weasel Festival, hosted by The Public Theater.

Supernatural Southern Gothic Play FALSE STARS Premieres at Corkscrew Theater Festival

Corkscrew Theater Festival presents the world premiere of False Stars by Nora Sorena Casey, directed by Jenny Reed and with movement direction by Samantha Sheppard. Running August 18-27, False Stars is a Southern Gothic tale merging the real and the supernatural in its exploration of death and scientific legacy. Performed by Felipe Bonilla, Marissa Carpio, Jules Forsberg-Lary, Jonathan Iglesias, and Ashton Muñiz, False Stars continues the inaugural season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.

Westport Country Playhouse presents Obie Award Winner APPROPRIATE

"Appropriate," the 2014 Obie Award winner for Best New American Play, will be staged at Westport Country Playhouse, from August 15 through September 2. The story of family secrets is written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, 2016 MacArthur Genius Grant Recipient, and directed by David Kennedy, Playhouse associate artistic director.

Samuel French has assembled a distinguished judging panel including playwrights Jiehae Park, James Hindman, Lauren Yee and Rachel Bonds; Artistic Directors Andrew Leynse (Primary Stages), Jonathan Silverstein (Keen Company), Susan Westfall (City Theatre, Miami), Emily Morse (New Dramatists) and Ciera Iverson (National Alliance of Musical Theatres); and industry professionals John Clinton Eisner (The Lark), Michael Walkup (Page 73), Abigail Katz (Atlantic Theater Company).

SHE GOT OFF THE COUCH Gets NYC Premiere at Dixon Place

She Got Off The Couch will have its New York City premiere at experimental performance venue, Dixon Place, as part of the HOT! Festival. Running since 1992 and it is the 26 year of the LGBTQ festival curated with performances featuring queer theater, dance, music, literature, puppetry, comedy. Critically acclaimed for bringing exciting new work to the stage, She Got Off the Couch is excited to be on stage on July 24th.

Cast Complete for New Temptations Musical AIN'T TOO PROUD at Berkeley Rep

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full casting and creative team for the world premiere of AIN'T TOO PROUD-THE TEMPTATIONS MUSICAL. The musical stage production will be directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff. Berkeley Rep presents the show by special arrangement with Ira Pittelman and Tom Hulce (American Idiot, Spring Awakening).

Ayad Akhtar's JUNK Announces Stars Joining Steven Pasquale at Lincoln Center Theater

Lincoln Center Theater has announced that Ito Aghayere, Phillip James Brannon, Tony Carlin, Caroline Hewitt, Rick Holmes, Ted Koch, Teresa Avia Lim, Danny Mastrogiorgio, Nate Miller, Ethan Phillips, Matthew Rauch, Matthew Saldivar, Michael Siberry, Miriam Silverman, Joey Slotnick, and Henry Stram will join Steven Pasquale to comprise the cast of its upcoming production of Junk, a new play by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Doug Hughes.

Chester Theatre Company to present SKELETON CREW

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is proud to present Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew in the historic Chester Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA, from July 13 - 23, 2017. The production is directed by Awoye Timpo, making her CTC directorial debut. In this 'deeply moral and deeply American play' (The New York Times), Reggie has worked his way up to supervisor at a faltering auto factory. Now he has to decide whether he owes his loyalty to himself, to his bosses, or to long-time family friend Faye and the younger workers on the line, Dez and Shanita. In the spirit of August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle, this third play from Morisseau's Detroit Trilogy explores the hard choices facing Americans barely squeezing by. It was named by the New York Times as 'one of six plays that reckon with an anxious America.'
