The full schedule of special Benefit Galas for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's 2017 North American Tour was officially announced today by the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra with the tour's kickoff concert, at Carnegie Hall in New York on Oct. 25, featuring the first gala.

William Peter Blatty, American writer and filmmaker, who was best known for his 1971 novel The Exorcist, has passed away at the age of 89. He also wrote and directed the sequel The Exorcist III. Some of his other notable works are the novels Elsewhere (2009), Dimiter (2010) and Crazy (2010).

Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), in association with Ryan Murphy, just announced that Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon will return to Broadway as "James Tyrone, Jr." in Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night, joining the previously announced Academy and Emmy Award winner Jessica Lange as "Mary Tyrone," Golden Globe winner and Tony Award nominee Gabriel Byrne as "James Tyrone," and Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. as "Edmund Tyrone." Jonathan Kent will direct, as part of Roundabout Theatre Company's 50th anniversary season.
