The Open Fist Theatre Company presents the third show in their 2010 season, the Los Angeles Premiere of GETTING FRANKIE MARRIED - AND AFTERWARDS, written by acclaimed playwright Horton Foote (The Orphans Home Cycle) and directed by Scott Paulin (The Roads to Home, Harrison, Texas). GETTING FRANKIE MARRIED - AND AFTERWARDS will preview on Friday, March 26 at 8pm; Saturday, March 27at 8pm; Sunday, March 28 at 2pm and will open on Friday, April 2 at 8pm and run through Saturday, May 15 at The Open Fist Theatre, 6209 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood.
August Wilson's JITNEY is set to run April 16 - May 8, 2010. It is the winner of the New York Drama Critics Award for Best New Play and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Play.
On Monday, May 3rd, 2010 Reading/Performance will be held of American Fiction: Loved, Banned, and Mythologized. The performance will benefit Elevator Repair Service theater company.
Elevator Repair Service (ERS) is hosting their spring benefit on Monday, May 3rd, 2010. The company is currently finishing the third play in a trilogy of critically acclaimed plays based on great American novels by William Faulkner, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and Ernest Hemingway. This event will celebrate ERS's success with Frances McDormand (Burn after Reading, Fargo), Lili Taylor ('Six Feet Under'), Fred Armisen ('Saturday Night Live'), Frankie Faison ('The Wire'), and ERS company members in a one night only performance of loved, banned and mythologized American fiction. Authors include Edith Wharton, Willa Cather, and Edgar Allan Poe. Readings will be accompanied by ERS's unique signature sound design.
