Andrea Rosen Gallery is very pleased to announce that Cory Nomura, one of the gallery's directors, is moving to Gallery 2 to continue to broaden the significance of its exhibition programming, which has been an essential part of the gallery's history since its inception in 1999. In 2012, Gallery 2 grew into an autonomous exhibition space at 544 West 24th Street. It remains dedicated to presenting content-driven, experimental and historical one-time exhibitions. In his new role, Nomura will also provide Gallery 2 with an on-going directorial presence.
On Sunday, January 12, 2014 Kaminski Auctions of Beverly, Massachusetts held a high quality 20th Century Modern Design auction. The sale achieved an approximate sell-through rate of seventy percent, while displaying a steady rhythm of strong hammer prices. Lehmann Maupin is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Angel Otero on view at 540 West 26th Street from 12 September – 2 November 2013. Otero's second solo show at the gallery features a new group of sculptures made from steel and porcelain, two materials the artist began experimenting with in 2012. A selection of new abstract paintings will also be exhibited in tandem with the sculptures. The artist will be present for an opening reception on Thursday, 12 September from 6 to 8 PM.

The Parrish Art Museum, founded in 1898, opened the doors of its new, 34,400-square-foot Herzog & de Meuron-designed, building in November of 2012. The new Parrish includes 12,200 square feet of exhibition space—three times that of the Museum's former home on Jobs Lane in Southampton. Seven sky-lit galleries devoted to the permanent collection showcase the story of America's most enduring and influential artists' colony—Eastern Long Island.

The 2013 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has been awarded to U.S. playwright Annie Baker for her play The Flick. On March 17, Houston's Alley Theatre hosted a special presentation and ceremony honoring the Winner and Finalists of the Prize and celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the international prize, which is based in Houston.
Guild Hall, the visual and performing arts center on eastern Long Island, recently honored the recipients of the 28th Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards: John Alexander for Visual Arts; Walter Isaacson for Literary Arts; Nathan Lane for Performing Arts and Mickey Straus, who received the Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropy. Marshall Brickman was the Master of Ceremonies with special guest presenters: Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Jack O'Brien and Lorne Michaels.
