Moving Image to Present 20-Film Retrospective THE ESSENTIAL JOHN FORD, 7/3-8/2

Starting fittingly on July Fourth weekend, Museum of the Moving Image will present The Essential John Ford, a tribute to the consummate American filmmaker. Ford made his reputation on westerns, but worked in many genres, creating films of depth, beauty, and ambiguity. From July 3 through August 2, the Museum will present 20 movies directed by Ford-all on film, with some restored archival prints-including his masterpieces Young Mr. Lincoln, My Darling Clementine, The Searchers, and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.

GIGI, Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Closes Today on Broadway; Tour to Launch Next Year

Gigi, the new Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning musical comedy, will play its final performance today, Sunday, June 21 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street). The production, which began previews on Thursday, March 19 and opened officially on Wednesday, April 8, will have played 20 previews and 86 performances.

Reagle Music Theatre's Summer Season Continues with KISS ME, KATE

Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston continues its 47th consecutive summer season with the hilariously entertaining Kiss Me, Kate, from July 9-19, 2015 at the Robinson Theatre (617 Lexington St. Waltham, MA, 02452). Starring Broadway couple Sarah Pfisterer as Lilli Vanessi/Kate (The Phantom of the Opera, Reagle's My Fair Lady) and Rick Hilsabeck as Fred Graham/Petruchio (Billy Elliot, Reagle's My Fair Lady), Cole Porter's hilarious musical recounts the madcap backstage and onstage antics of two feuding couples during a production of The Taming of the Shrew. Reagle will close out its summer season from August 6-16 with Wonderful Town, starring Katie Anne Clarke and Jennifer Ellis. Individual tickets range from $35 to $63; season subscriptions and group tickets are available at a discount. Tony Danza, Randy Graff & More to Headline BROADWAY BY THE YEAR at Town Hall Next Week

The finale of Season 15 of the popular and acclaimed series Broadway by the Year will be June 22 at 8 P.M. at Town Hall and feature tunes from every year during the last quarter century of Broadway [from 1991]. Broadway by the Year creator/writer/host, Scott Siegel, says, 'This particular edition of Broadway by the Year will feature a great many stars who originated the songs they will be singing from the shows in which they starred, including Tony winner Randy Graff (A Class Act); Tony Nominee Cheryl Freeman (The Civil War), Tony Nominee Sahr Ngaujah (Fela!), Lisa Howard (It Shoulda Been You), and Special Guest Star, Tony Danza (Honeymoon in Vegas).' Siegel further explained that the concert will also feature award-winning stars who performed in the shows they will be singing from, including Grammy-winning country legend Larry Gatlin (Broadway, The Will Rogers Follies), Kyle Scatliffe (Olivier Nominee for The Scottsboro Boys), Quentin Earl Darrington (Ragtime).

Laura Osnes, Santino Fontana, Stephanie J. Block & More Set for 2015-16 TRUST Cabaret Series

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is pleased to announce the fourth season for the 2015-2016 TRUST Cabaret Series. This popular series provides audiences with a rare opportunity to experience the finest cabaret artists and their outstanding musical accompanists at the intimate Cabaret at Theater Square, 655 Penn Avenue, in downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District. The 2015-2016 TRUST Cabaret Series will showcase award-winning Broadway, stage and film stars Tommy Tune, Stephanie J. ON YOUR FEET!, the new musical based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, legendary producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan, opens its pre-Broadway World Premiere run in Chicago tonight at the Oriental Theatre. The musical posted an announcement on Instagram today that the cast of On Your Feet! has collected $4,500 as an opening night donation for BC/EFA's BROADWAY BARES, in honor of director Jerry Mitchell, who started the show 25 years ago.

BWW Reviews: SUTTON FOSTER at the Broad

In its series Broadway @ the Broad, which began in October 2013 with Patti Lupone, Sutton Foster was the latest star to grace the stage, featuring Seth Rudetsky as pianist and host. The event took place Sunday June 14 at 5pm and 8pm, and Foster proved a real trouper. On her recent honeymoon in Italy she contracted laryngitis and her voice has been down ever since. It took some quick maneuvering to adjust the program to her vocal capability, but with Seth Rudetsky on board as accompanist, all went well, and the packed house was overjoyed with what Foster had to offer.

Actress and playwright Mary Jane Schaefer explores the relationship between Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald in her play, Scott and Zelda: Happy Forever, which was performed at the Theatre Artists Workshop in Norwalk in June. Schaefer is best known for her work in Shakespeare. She performed with Shakespeare On The Sound and has written two parts of a trilogy on the Bard -- Shakespeare Rising and Judith Shakespeare Has Her Say.
