Urban Stages, in association with producer/director/lyricist and Director of Musical Programming Peter Napolitano, today announced that Tony Award Nominee Stephanie D'Abruzzo will join the line-up for their sixth series of musical evenings entitled WINTER RHYTHMS 2014, beginning Tuesday, December 2nd and continuing through Sunday, December 14th at Urban Stages Theatre (259 West 30th Street, just East of 8th Avenue).

Will Friedwald's "Clip Joint" - the innovative live video mixtape experience - will return on Thursday, November 13 at 8:00 PM with guest curator Dan Fortune (publicist, DJ, producer). The high-octane theatrical concert, "Burlesque to Broadway" starring Quinn Lemley will dazzle audiences at New York City's premiere venue The Cutting Room (44 E 32nd Street between Park and Madison) every Monday night in November. This lightning-in-a-bottle survey of American burlesque -- with Lemley leading a tight-knit coterie of showgirls through heart-racing choreography, in eye-popping costumes -- is supported by a razor-sharp nine-piece live band under the music direction of Daniel Lincoln. Performances are November (3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th) at 8pm with doors at 6:30pm.

As a founding member of the New York Dolls and in a prolific solo career, David Johansen has been a seminal force in rock and roll, influencing countless singer and bass to this day. Buster Poindexter, Johansen's celebrated alter ego showcases his elegant crooning at Cafe Carlyle Oct. 21-25.

Hosted by Ted Chapin and airing on New Jersey's public television NJTV, the American Songbook at NJPAC features live performances of America's finest interpreters of the Great American Songbook. Perfermors include Marilyn Maye, Tommy Tune, Marc Shaiman & Scott Wittman, John Pizzarelli, Nellie McKay and Laura Osnes & Santino Fontana, with John Pizzarelli performing an entire show of songs by the great master himself, Johnny Mercer.

NJTV, New Jersey's Public Television Network and New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) have collaborated on a second season of American Songbook at NJPAC. The six part series, is being taped in NJPAC's Victoria Theater and broadwayworld was there for last nights concert, which was hosted by Ted Chapin and written and produced by Will Friedwald. Last night were the finals of the MetroStar Talent Challenge and BroadwayWorld was there. One by one the nervous five entered the dark room and the process started. The judges were identified and their qualifications noted by host Tom Gamblin.

On Monday, in one of the most competitive MetroStar competitions to date, five finalists were selected to move on to the two-week finals of the 7th annual MetroStar Talent Challenge. The five finalists, who will go head-to-head the next two Mondays, August 18 and 25, are Joanna Morton Gary, Lindsey Holloway, Leah Jennings, David LaMarr and Kristoffer Lowe. The Top 5, narrowed down from a group of nine semifinalists, are the last singers singing from an initial pool of 48 when the 8-week competition began on July 7.

New York's Metropolitan Room is extending its deadline for applications for this year's 2014 "MetroStar Talent Challenge" to July 4.

"Shades of Blue" is another first-class invitation for the versatile Bufford to show her many sides. The material -- an odyssey of blues made famous by the likes of Bessie Smith, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Dinah Washington, John Legend, and The Animals -- reels from deep in its southern roots to its far-flung northern heights. Shadowing Bufford on this kaleidoscopic journey is her music director Ian Herman on piano.
