EASTBOUND & DOWN, the raucous HBO comedy series from creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill, begins shooting its eight-episode fourth and final season tomorrow in North Carolina, with the season scheduled to launch TONIGHT, SEPT. 29 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT). McBride stars in the show as the irrepressible Kenny Powers, the former major league pitcher who is larger than life... and death.

George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint have announced casting for the opening production for the venerable theatre's fortieth season. Gettin' The Band Back Together (formerly titled Garage Band) is a rockin' valentine to the Garden State, and will be directed by Tony Award-winner John Rando - who also helmed The Toxic Avenger in New Brunswick (and New York) a few seasons back. Gettin' The Band Back Together will rock the house beginning Tuesday, September 24 and continue through Sunday, October 27. Opening night is set for Friday, October 4. Gettin' The Band Back Together is performed by special arrangement with Davenport Theatrical Enterprises, Inc. and Roy Putrino.

In anticipation of the new NBC hit comedy sitcom based on the hit off-Broadway play Assistance, Black Lab Theatre opens its doors on September 19, 2013, with the regional premiere of the original work -- a hilarious single act play that revolves around entry level, 20-somethings frantically trying to please their hellacious boss as calls and drama ring in. The play's TV adaptation (to star Krysten Ritter and Alfred Molina) hits the TV's on NBC later this season with Will Ferrell's Gary Sanchez Productions producing and play's author Leslye Headland signed on as chief writer. Headland herself began her career as the assistant to legendary Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein and captures the angst of a new generation trying to hit the financial big time, one post-it at a time. This 'The Office' meets 'The Devil Wears Prada' Off-Broadway comedy about ambition-driven Generation-Y staffers will run at Wildfish Theater in the Galleria Area September 19 through Oct 5 at 8pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays plus a Monday Industry Night on Sept 30.

A lineup of top entertainers including, Julie Andrews, Lucie Arnaz, Tony Bennett, Tim Conway, Tina Fey, Rashida Jones, Vicki Lawrence, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short, Rosemary Watson and others will salute Carol Burnett at the 16th Annual Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 8:00 p.m. The evening will pay tribute the humor and accomplishments of Carol Burnett, and will be taped by WETA Washington, D.C. as Carol Burnett: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize. Black Lab Theatre's 2013-2014 season kicks off this fall with the razor-sharp, Off-Broadway comedy Assistance by Leslye Headland, a scathing look at megabuck corporate office politics through the hilariously ambition-driven eyes of Generation-Y staffers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Omar Dorsey (Django Unchained) will join the final season of Danny McBride's EASTBOUND & DOWN on HBO in a multiple-episode arc. Dorsey will play 'Dontel Benjamin', a former NFL player who is now a 'loudmouth' talk show host.

For the second year in a row renowned voiceover actor Bill Ratner has been awarded BEST OF HOLLYWOOD FRINGE. Bobbywood: Whatever Happened to Bobby the Bellboy, written and performed by Bill Ratner, is directed by Sydney Walsh, and features music by Jonathan Menchin and Brenda Varda.

Deadline.com reports that NBC has ordered three additional scripts for its comedy pilot ASSISTANCE. The project is based on Leslye Headland's play of the same name.

According to Deadline.com, Ken Marino (Childrens Hospital) has joined HBO's EASTBOUND & DOWN. He will play Guy Young, a middle-aged athlete who still thinks he's in his prime, and will appear in all 8 episodes in the show's fourth, and final, season. Also joining the cast in a recurring role is Tim Heidecker, as one of Kenny's no-nonsense neighbors.
