The new Broadway musical, Amelie, a new musical based on the beloved five-time Oscar-nominated film, opened just last night at the Walter Kerr Theatre, marking Tony nominee Phillipa Soo's return to Broadway. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the red carpet below!

Broadway alum Will Chase has joined the cast of HBO's upcoming series SHARP OBJECTS, opposite Amy Adams. The 'Nashville' star will have a recurring role on the eight-episode drama.

ABC has pulled its new time travel drama TIME AFTER TIME from its schedule, effectively cancelling the series. The show becomes the second scripted, freshman series to be pulled from the air this season.

BroadwayWorld has learned that last night at a concert in Norfolk, Virgina Kelli O'Hara hinted to the audience that she might soon be returning to Broadway in a revival of KISS ME, KATE. Audience members reported that before singing 'So In Love' O'hara said 'I may or may not be singing this role soon on Broadway.'

This week, Miss Saigon officially flies back to Broadway and its original home, The Broadway Theatre. The original production of Miss Saigon opened on April 11, 1991 and played through January 28, 2001. On April 21, 2017 at 8:00PM, The New York Pops, led by Music Director Steven Reineke, will continue its 34th season at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage, by bringing to life the soundtrack of a generation, including songs by James Taylor, Carole King, and more.

Maestro Steven Reineke lifted his baton, pointed to a first tier box and started the New York Pops playing probably the most well known song ever written as he led the audience in Happy Birthday to soon to be 90 year old John Kander.  BroadwayWorld was there for the opening night exciting concert which celebrated the music of the award winning song writers, the legendary Kander & Ebb.  Cassie Levy and Tony Yazbeck, the triple threat singer, actor, dancers were the concerts guest artists. Probably not since Vladimir Horowitz had a nail tapped into Carnegie's stage for his piano placement has there been better tapping (dancing) than Mr. Yazbeck displayed at this concert.  As in every New York Pops Concert, the joy of the music continues as Steven Reineke hosts an after party.

The New York Pops brands itself as "a different kind of orchestra," and the proof is in the programming. The orchestra, the largest independent orchestra in the United States, will begin the second half of their season on Friday, March 10, 2017, with a LIFE IS A CABARET: KANDER & EBB, celebrating the music of the legendary duo, and continuing a season (and organization mission) dedicated to featuring a wide variety of performers, composers, and genres.

Last night, Atlantic Theater Company presented their Annual Gala at The Pierre. Directors' Choice celebrated Atlantic's directors with a fabulous evening of unexpected songs, honoring Neil Pepe for his 25 years of artistic leadership.

The evening honored legendary four-time Tony-winning stage and film actor Frank Langella with The Jason Robards Award for Excellence in Theatre and Leonard Tow, Founder & Chairman of The Tow Foundation, with the Ovation Award for Excellence in Philanthropy.
