Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID Begins This Week at The Rose Theater

The Rose Theater invites audiences to dive 'Under the Sea' for a swimmingly good time as one of Disney's all-time favorites splashes to life in the Broadway musical adaptation of The Little Mermaid. The show opens June 3 and will run through June 26.

Etsy Canada Announces Finalists for Etsy Awards

TORONTO, ON – Artisanal drumroll, please… Etsy Canada has revealed the 60 finalists for the Etsy Awards, Canada's inaugural design competition in search of the nation's great creative and craft talent. Voting is now open at etsyawards.com/ca, and the public is invited to vote for their Community's Choice Award winner beginning now through June 6.  

STAGE TUBE: Santtu-Matias Rouvali Named Chief Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony

Santtu-Matias Rouvali is set to become Chief Conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony, the National Orchestra of Sweden. The 30-year old, recently hailed by the Guardian (London) as "the latest sit-up-and-listen talent to emerge from the great Finnish conducting tradition", will take up his new position at the beginning of the 2017-18 season. His appointment underlines the special relationship forged between conductor and orchestra in August 2014 with Rouvali's debut programme of works by Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky and Bernstein. Critical acclaim has followed their subsequent performances together, with Hakan Dahl of Goteborgs-Posten praising Rouvali as 'absolutely superb' (October 2015).

TV: Sneak Peek at Rehearsals and Behind-the-Scenes of I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU

Producer Corky Hale's I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU - The Life and Lyrics of Al Dubin, features lyrics by Al Dubin, most music by Harry Warren, a book by Jerry Leichtling and Arlene Sarner, and musical direction by Gerald Sternbach.  The production is directed and choreographed by  Kay Cole.  BroadwayWorld TV's own LA on-air Host Michael Sterling was invited to take a sneak peek at rehearsals last week and interview some of the show's stars and creative team.  

SMU Meadows Dance Ensemble to Perform APPALACHIAN SPRING with New Version of Copland's Score

On May 11, 2016, dancers from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University will be the first to perform Martha Graham's iconic choreography for APPALACHIAN SPRING with a new version of Aaron Copland's score for full orchestra, completed in collaboration with the Martha Graham Dance Company and the Aaron Copland Fund for Music.

Calidore String Quartet Makes Carnegie Hall Debut on Today

The acclaimed Calidore String Quartet caps their artistic residency at Stony Brook University with a Carnegie Hall debut performance today, May 10th at 8 p.m. in Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall. The concert propels the quartet into their next high-profile residency with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center II, slated to begin in the 2016 fall concert season. CSQ is the first North American ensemble to be awarded the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni fellowship. This Carnegie recital will feature string quartet works by masterful composers, including two late works by Mozart and Mendelssohn - Mozart's String Quartet in D Major, K. 575 and Mendelssohn's String Quartet in F Minor, Op. 80 - and an early yet radical chamber work by Hindemith, String Quartet No. 4, Op. 22. Cast, Creatives Set for DEFERRED ACTION World Premiere at DTC

Dallas Theater Center announced today complete details for the world-premiere of DEFERRED ACTION. A co-production with Cara Mia Theatre Co. and directed by Cara Mia's Artistic Director David Lozano, DEFERRED ACTION features company members from both DTC and Cara Mia. DEFERRED ACTION will begin previews with a Pay-What-You-Can performance on Wednesday, April 20 and will run through Saturday, May 14. Press Opening will be Today, April 29 at 8 p.m.

The Rose Announces Cast of THE LITTLE MERMAID

The Rose Theater is proud to announce the cast of their upcoming production of Disney's The Little Mermaid, which opens June 3 and runs through June 26 (recently extended due to popular demand). The public can meet the cast at a special fundraising event, the 'Under the Sea Tea,' on May 21.

The House Theatre to Present DEATH & HARRY HOUDINI, 5/12-7/24

2016 National Festival of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Begins Next Week

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts more than 150 outstanding theater students from colleges and universities across the nation as part of the 48th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), which runs April 12-16, 2016 in multiple locations throughout the Center. Thousands of student artists from eight regions across the country presented their work at regional festivals from January 5 through February 27, 2016 and more than 150 were selected to travel to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., for an all-expenses-paid trip to participate in the national festival.

10th Anniversary Season Set for Chenango River Theatre

The greater Binghamton area's longest running Equity theatre will celebrate its 10th anniversary season by premiering four plays never seen before in this region.  Included are two new plays just beginning to be produced around the country.  Both are from authors whose previous work has been seen exclusively on CRT's stage in the Southern Tier.
