Palm Beach MODERN + CONTEMPORARY Wraps with Seven Figure Sales and VIP Guests

Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, presented by Art Miami and hosted by the City of West Palm Beach, returned for its second edition from Thursday, January 11th through Monday January 15th where it was immediately recognized as a leading international contemporary and modern art fair. Attendance of prestigious art collectors, connoisseurs, advisors and notable museum professionals surged through the weekend, while galleries reported significant six and seven figure sales of investment quality blue chip, contemporary and Post-War works.

Ford's Theatre Society honored the legacy of President Abraham Lincoln at its Annual Gala on Sunday evening, June 4, 2017, at Ford's Theatre (511 10th Street NW). For more than 40 years, the Society has hosted this bi-partisan event, which provides crucial support to the non-profit's theatrical and education programs.

Geoffrey Bradfield, Barbara and Donald Tober, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, Eleanora and Michael Kennedy and Ambassador John Loeb and Sharon Handler Loeb co-hosted a special VIP Preview of acclaimed celebrity and society photographer Annie Watt's Impromptu Portraits at the prestigious Galerie Dumonteil on Park Avenueand 57th Street on Tuesday to benefit the American Heart Association. The incisive images of celebrities, political figures, designers and society's elite filled the walls of the elegant gallery. The images were presented in a variety of sizes and formats, classic 8 x 10, Oversize and snappy Polaroids and many were scooped up by the attendees.

The third edition of Art Southampton, the leading international contemporary and modern art fair for acquiring investment quality works of art opened last night with huge success, where top collectors, curators, art advisors and influencers kicked off the weekend-long event. Taking place on the 18-acre estate behind the Southampton Elks Lodge, the Platinum VIP saw over 1,500 top collectors of the East End, and throughout the elegant evening, attendance exceeded last year's VIP Preview of 4,200 guests. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Announces an Annual Attendance of 6.2 Million

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that 6.2 million people—from New York City, the tri-state area, across the United States, and 187 foreign countries—visited the Museum during the fiscal year that ended on June 30. For the third year in a row, attendance at the Museum has exceeded six million—the highest levels of visitorship since the Museum began tracking admission statistics more than 40 years ago. The number includes attendance at both the main building on Fifth Avenue and The Cloisters museum and gardens in upper Manhattan, the branch of the Metropolitan devoted to the art and architecture of the Middle Ages. The Cloisters experienced a remarkable 50% increase in attendance in the past fiscal year, attracting nearly 350,000 visitors.

René Magritte, the playful and provocative Belgian Surrealist who set out to create works that would 'challenge the real world' by making 'everyday objects shriek out loud,' is the focus of a major exhibition at the Art Institute of Chicago: Magritte, The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926-1938. The show opens today, June 24, 2014 and runs through October 13, 2014 in Regenstein Hall. A collaborative effort between three museums, the exhibition will make its final stop at the Art Institute following its premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in New York on September 28, 2013 and its current run at the Menil Collection, Houston.

The 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit took place on July 27, 2013 at the The Watermill Center in Water Mill, NY. Beginning at 6pm, the evening included cocktails provided by Bacardi USA, a silent auction, performances, art installations, dinner, dancing, and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Simon de Pury. Romero Britto Unveils Portrait of Ava Roosevelt in Palm Beach, FL, 12/15

Romero Britto, the internationally renowned Brazilian artist, will unveil his portrait of the author of The Racing Heart and philanthropist, Ava Roosevelt, during a private reception on Saturday, December 15th, 2012. The reception, hosted by Mrs. Roosevelt in her Palm Beach residence, will also serve as a 'friend-raiser' for the Education Technology & Performance Foundation (www.ETPFoundation.com), a newly founded charitable trust on which Ava serves as a member of the Advisory Board. Founded in 2012, ETP Foundation advocates the use of effective technology in education, raising funds and increasing philanthropic support for education, technology and performance in schools.

The Museum of Modern Art's 2010 Film Benefit, an event to be held on November 10, honors the Academy Award-winning writer-director Kathryn Bigelow. Co-chairs for this year's event are Ralph Fiennes, Harrison Ford, Jodie Foster, Hilary and Wilbur Ross, and Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch. Honorary Co-chairs are Marie-Josée Kravis and Jerry I. Speyer. The event raises funds to ensure that great works of cinema continue to join the collection of The Museum of Modern Art.
