Arden Children's Theatre to Present SIDEWAYS STORIES FROM WAYSIDE SCHOOL, 12/4-2/15

Arden Theatre Company opens its 16th Season of Children's Theatre with Sideways Stories from Wayside School. Based on the beloved book series by Louis Sachar, this adaptation by John Olive will be directed by Whit MacLaughlin. The production runs from December 4, 2013 through February 15, 2014 and includes weekday matinee performances for students and weekend performances for families. Best enjoyed by families with children ages 5 and older, Sideways Stories from the Wayside School runs on the Arden's F. Otto Haas Stage at 40 N. 2nd Street in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia.

Drexel Players' PARTS: A SPEED-THROUGH Set for Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Begin. 9/6

The Drexel Players return to the Philadelphia Fringe Festival from Sept. 6 - 14 with Parts: A Speed-Through, an immersive theater experience conceived, produced, written and performed entirely by Drexel University students and alumni. Parts: A Speed-Through takes an inside look at the relationships that young theater artists share as they produce a fictional theater show.

Arden Theatre Company Announces 2013-14 Season

For the Arden's 26th Season of great stories by great storytellers, the company presents a daring and ambitious musical, dramas that grapple with the complicated notion of the American family, provocative pieces by contemporary playwrights, and a new approach to a classic text. Says Arden's Producing Artistic Director Terrence J. Nolen: "The 2013/14 season will include a remarkable range of stories by master storytellers. We are proud to produce the work of Jason Robert Brown, Lydia Diamond, and Alfred Uhry at the Arden for the first time, and are thrilled to welcome plays by Philadelphia writers Quiara Alegria Hudes and Michael Hollinger to our stages. The coming year also includes a new translation by Curt Columbus of Anton Chekhov's Three Sisters, and adaptations of Louis Sachar's Sideways Stories from Wayside School and Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat. Coming this fall, we will also open the Hamilton Family Arts Center, our new education and production center. We are thrilled by the prospect of creating our 2013/14 productions in this great new space.'

Arden Children's Theatre is best enjoyed by families with children ages 5 and older.

New Paradise Laboratories Debuts '27,' at Philadelphia’s 2012 Live Arts Fringe Festival

New Paradise Laboratories (NPL), an experimental performance ensemble, will debut its newest work, 27, at Philadelphia's 2012 Live Arts Fringe Festival. NPL creates innovative projects in a variety of media. 27 marks the debut of a new company of NPL performer-collaborators, as well as a return to the organization's muscular stylistic roots.

Philadelphia Experimental Theater Company Unveils Online Theatre Project FRAME

Philadelphia's theater research company - New Paradise Laboratories - announces today the launch of FRAME, its online performance-based platform. NPL is celebrating the event with a party tonight at 7:00 pm at its space in The Maas Building, a multi-use arts facility in Northern Liberties. This website (www.newparadiselaboratories.org) is NPL's organizational online home. It has reached over 21,000 unique visitors for 31,000 views worldwide in its year of beta-testing. Funded in part by PEW Charitable Trusts, the project allows NPL to exercise its creative mission online.

InterAct Theatre Company closes its 24th season with the world premiere of the dynamic drama ETCHED IN SKIN ON A SUNLIT NIGHT by Kara Lee Corthron, which opens officially tonight, June 6, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. ETCHED IN SKIN ON A SUNLIT NIGHT imagines an African American painter who has exiled herself to Iceland, only to have her secrets revealed and her racial demons unleashed during Barack Obama's Presidential election campaign.

It then continues to play through October 1.

As part of Arden Children's Theatre, Arden Theatre Company presents The Borrowers, an adaptation of the beloved children's novel by Mary Norton, who also penned the classic story Bedknobs and Broomsticks . The Borrowers will close January 30, 2011.
