Greater Boston Stage Company Announces 19th Season

Greater Boston Stage Company is pleased to announce its Season 19 Mainstage programming which includes adaptations of beloved holiday classics, a new look at a classic quartet of musicians, a collaboration with Front Porch Arts Collective, and three premieres: an East Coast, U.S., and World Premiere.

MISS HOLMES Comes to GBSC

See Sherlock as you've never seen her before in Miss Holmes, written by Christopher M. Walsh based on the characters by Arthur Conan Doyle. This classic, timeless Sherlock Holmes mystery takes on a greater twist - Sherlock and Watson are women. Directed by Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes, performances run April 5 - 22, 2018. The Press Opening is Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 3:00pm.

Cast and Creative Announced for Lyric Stage's ROAD SHOW

On his continuing journey through the works of Stephen Sondheim, director Spiro Veloudos brings us Sondheim's latest work,Road Show, the true boom-and-bust story of two of the most colorful and outrageous fortune-seekers in American history. From the Alaskan Gold Rush to the Florida real estate boom in the 1930s, entrepreneur Addison Mizner and his fast-talking brother Wilson were proof positive that the road to the American Dream is often a seductive, treacherous tightrope walk.

JACK AND THE GIANT Comes to Greater Boston Stage Company

Greater Boston Stage Company continues its 18th Season with Jack and the Giant, a joyous, heartfelt, and family-friendly new musical. This new spin on the classic fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk has a dynamic score and intriguing new characters. Co-written by Young Company alumnus Andrew Barbato and James Larsen, this production is perfect for children and adults alike.

Greater Boston Stage Company has a commitment to produce a world premiere play each year, a mission now underwritten by the largesse of a long-time audience member and supporter. The 18th season at the Stoneham theater continues with ALLIGATOR ROAD, the inaugural offering of the Don Fulton New Play Project, by Maine playwright Callie Kimball. Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes is at the helm of this quirky, slice-of-life-you-don't-see-everyday comedy. Scenic designer Katheryn Monthei steals the spotlight and, thanks to props master Sarah Elizabeth Bedard, there's lots of eye candy to draw your attention throughout the play.

Stoneham Theatre presents I LOVED, I LOST, I MADE SPAGHETTI

Stoneham Theatre concludes its 17th Season with the mouth-watering new comedy I Loved, I Lost, I Made Spaghetti, starring Kerri Jill Garbis and directed by Elliot Norton and IRNE Award-winner Ilyse Robbins. Adapted by Jacques Lamarre from the memoir by Giulia Melucci, performances of this one-woman show run from June 8 - 25, 2017. The Press Opening is Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 3:00pm.

BWW Review: GABRIEL: Better Angels Take Flight at Stoneham Theatre

Stoneham Theatre seriously ups its game with Moira Buffini's 1997 play GABRIEL, a World War II tale of survival and intrigue, where the fate of a family may rest upon the identity of a mysterious stranger. Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes directs a cast that includes some of Boston theater's most stellar actors, as well as a nine-year old member of 'the young company' making her Mainstage debut in a pivotal role. Scenic designer Matthew Lazure's evocative set takes us to the island of Guernsey, to a rustic farmhouse lacking the creature comforts formerly enjoyed by the family before the Nazi occupation.

Starring Taavon Gamble, last seen in The Scottsboro Boys at SpeakEasy Stage Company, as Jonah, this epic musical journey re-imagined from the Old Testament features a completely original pop/folk score. With a Book by Tyler Mills, Music and Lyrics by David Darrow and Blake Thomas, Orchestrations by Robert Frost, the exciting ensemble cast is Directed by Weylin Symes and Choreographed by Elliot Norton and IRNE Award-winner Ilyse Robbins.
