InViolet Theater Company's SOMMERFUGL Begins Next Month

InViolet Theater Company, under the direction of Founding Co-Artistic Directors Michael Henry Harris and Angela Razzano, In association with Melanie Maras, Bryan Tallevi and Andrea Kiefer have announced the off-off Broadway run of SOMMERFUGL, a new play written by Bixby Elliot inspired by the true story of Lili Elbe, the first person to have gender reassignment surgery in 1930. The production begins previews September 19 at the 4th Street Theater (83 East 4th Street) and will have its official opening on September 24. Stephen Brackett directs.  www.InViolettheater.com

THE ACCIDENTAL WOLF with Kelli O'Hara Selected for New York Television Festival's 2015 IPC

The New York Television Festival, an organization dedicated to identifying and nurturing top independent creative talent and connecting it with networks, studios, digital media companies and brands, today announced the official selections for its flagship Independent Pilot Competition (IPC), including The Accidental Wolf, created by Arian Moayed of Waterwell Films. This explosive thriller, stars Kelli O'Hara (Tony Winner for The King & I), Mike Doyle (Clint Eastwood's Jersey Boys) and Sahr Ngaujah (Tony Nominee for Fela!), and is one of 50 original television and web series pilots that will be presented for industry executives and TV fans at the 11th Annual New York Television Festival.

THE PUMPKIN PIE SHOW to Play UNDER St. Marks, 9/24-10/10

FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade will present the seventeenth annual presentation of The Pumpkin Pie Show, with stories written by master storyteller Clay McLeod Chapman and performances by Chapman and downtown superstar Hanna Cheek. The production will run September 24-October 10 at UNDER St. Marks (94 St. Marks Place between 1st Avenue and Avenue A) with performances Thursday through Saturday at 8pm.Tickets ($18; $15 students) may be purchased in advance atwww.horseTRADE.info.

THE FRINGE FESTIVAL Presents PAINTING HIS WINGS

Television writer, Sinead Daly (current associate producer and writer, The Get Down (Netflix, Baz Luhrmann) and CBS' Blue Bloods) is also a celebrated playwright. Her moving and imaginative work, PAINTING HIS WINGS makes its New York theatre debut as part of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival. The play is produced by Making It Happen Productions and is directed by Heather Lanza, the play's original director from its premiere at the 2013 Berkshire Fringe.

Qui Nguyen to Write New Play for Waterwell; Premieres This Spring

Waterwell, one of the Village Voice's Best Arguments for Devised Theater and creators of GOODBAR and #9, continues its annual series of developmental workshop productions by commissioning a new play from Qui Nguyen (The Inexplicable Redemption of Agent G, She Kills Monsters) for its senior Drama Class of 2015 at the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS). To be directed by longtime collaborator, Robert Ross Parker (Goodbye Cruel World, co-artistic director of Vampire Cowboys), the piece will premiere at PPAS in April 2015.

Fresh Produce'd L.A. presents the world premiere production HEY BROTHER by Bekah Brunstetter. Produced by Riva Di Paola and Lucas Dixon, the show will be directed by Alexis Jacknow and stars Lucas Dixon (Yale MFA), Graham Outerbridge (A.C.T. MFA) and Kahyun Kim (Julliard BFA). The show runs tonight, November 21st - Sunday, December 14th, 2014.

New Georges & Women's Project to Remount A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN NOVEMBER in 2015

New Georges will remount their critically acclaimed production of Kate Benson's A Beautiful Day in November on the Banks of the Greatest of the Great Lakes directed by Lee Sunday Evans in association with Women's Project Theater, January 12-February 7 at City Center Stage II (131 West 55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues).
