Porchlight Music Theatre has announce dthe second production in its 20th Anniversary Season of Sondheim, the Chicago premiere of Sondheim on Sondheim, February 6 - March 15, 2015, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, conceived by James Lapine, direction by Nick Bowling with music direction by Porchlight Artistic Associate Austin Cook at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave.

The feature film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's beloved fairy tale musical INTO THE WOODS is coming to movie theaters nationwide on Christmas Day and BroadwayWorld celebrates the man behind the music and lyrics with a new series highlighting the work of the iconic composer and lyricist, finishing today with a look at his work in the 1990s and 2000s.

Christopher Nolan will receive the prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award from the Art Directors Guild (ADG) at its 19th Annual Art Directors Guild's Excellence in Production Design Awards, it was announced today by ADG Council Chairman John Shaffner and Awards Producers Dave Blass and James Pearse Connelly. Comedian Owen Benjamin will host the black-tie ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, set for January 31, 2015.

The brilliant actress BARBARA ROSENBLAT (Miss Rosa in Orange Is the New Black) stars in the poignant, sharp, and laugh-out-loud funny play by Jane Wagner, THE SEARCH FOR SIGNS OF INTELLIGENT LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE. The star-studded Broadway production of the backstage comedy It's Only A Play, by 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, opened on October 9, 2014, at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). Confirming previously reported rumors, the new project will be a collaboration between Sondheim and contemporary American playwright David Ives. The project, whose title was not announced, will be based on two classic films by Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel. The two separate films will be the basis for one complete story which the characters will exist in seamlessly. The first half will be based on The 1972 film 'The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie' and the second half will be based on the 1962 film 'The Exterminating Angel.'

The Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who turned 85 in November, has suffered a back injury that has forced the postponement of concerts originally dated March 20 in Los Angeles and March 23 in Brooklyn. The shows have been rescheduled for June 13 at Cushman & Wakefield Theater at Barclays Center in Brooklyn and June 15 at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live, where he will conduct an ensemble of 200 musicians and singers in performances of his legendary film scores. The concerts will be, respectively, his first New York appearance since 2007 and his first-ever Los Angeles concert.
