The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC), a nonprofit five-screen cinema and education center and one of the most successful suburban art houses in the country, announced today that Dori Berinstein, Stephanie Lynn of Ossining, NY and Michael Lombardi of Chappaqua, NY have been elected to its Board of Directors for a three-year term. The JBFC Board is committed to the growth of the JBFC's pioneering education programs and initiatives that offer a creative approach to visual literacy.
Center Theatre Group has announced the cast for 'Linda Vista' by Tracy Letts. The Steppenwolf Theatre Company production will be presented at the Mark Taper Forum January 9 through February 17, 2019. Directed by Dexter Bullard, the opening of 'Linda Vista' is set for January 16, 2019.
Berkshire Theatre Group (Kate Maguire, Artistic Director/CEO) in association with five-time Tony Award-winning Caiola Productions (Once on this Island, Dear Evan Hansen, The Color Purple, All The Way, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf) presents Rock and Roll Man: The Alan Freed Story, directed by Tony Award-nominee Randal Myler (It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues) at The Colonial Theatre as part of their 2019 Summer Season. The production is in development for a Broadway run and a national tour.
Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler announced the cast of the second production of its 2018-19 Season: Birdy, adapted by Naomi Wallace from the novel by William Wharton, and directed by Steven Maler. The production runs February 27 through March 10 at the Carling-Sorenson Theater at Babson College in Wellesley.
In the spirit of celebrating 35 years of cutting-edge performances, Undermain establishes its Repertoire Series to honor the gems of its production history, with a reboot of An Iliad, a landmark production from 2012 starring Bruce DuBose and Paul Semrad, directed by Undermain Artistic Director Katherine Owens. An Iliad is a modern-day retelling of Homer's classic. Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment. The lone figure onstage is a storyteller-possibly Homer, possibly one of the many bards who followed in his footsteps. Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre opens its 10-year anniversary season with the Tony Award-winning rock musical, HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, written by John Cameron Mitchell and music by Stephen Trask. Pinch 'N Ouch Theatre's Producing Artistic Director, Grant McGowen will direct Atlanta native Chad Darnell in the role of 'Hedwig,' an East German genderqueer "internationally ignored song stylist." McGowen most recently directed THIS IS OUR YOUTH, FOOL FOR LOVE and WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF at Pinch 'N' Ouch Theatre. "This show is a beast of a show and I'm so excited to bring her to back to Atlanta," said Darnell who previously played the role at the Bay Street Theatre in Savannah, GA in January 2018.

When portrayed by John Hurt in landmark film The Naked Civil Servant, Quentin became a star, moved to America, and was embraced as the original Englishman In New York, immortalized in the hit song by Sting. Naked Hope depicts Quentin's life in London and New York, recreating the legendary An Evening With Quentin Crisp. Expect laughter, pathos, and deep truth in this uplifting salute to the courage of the human spirit to be itself… no matter what they say.

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) rings in 2019 with Edward Albee's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Seascape. In her A.C.T. directorial debut, Artistic Director and Tony Award winner Pam MacKinnon-hailed as "the most prolific of directors of Edward Albee's plays" (The Daily Beast)-continues her career-long exploration of American theater's legendary playwright. MacKinnon won the 2013 Tony Award for the Broadway revival of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, starring Tracy Letts and Amy Morton.
VAULT Festival, one of the largest curated arts festivals in the world, has announced more than 400 shows for their 2019 programme. Now in its seventh year, VAULT Festival returns to London from 23rd January to 17th March with the best in new writing for theatre and comedy, immersive experiences, cabaret, live performance and late night parties. Their exciting and diverse programme features shows from more than 2,000 artists, with 53% of work being female-led and 25% of work coming from LGBTQIA+ artists. Starting in 2012 with only 25 shows and 7,000 attendees, VAULT Festival has become the fastest growing arts festival in the UK, hosting over 350 shows in 2018 and welcoming more than 70,000 audience members.
